Re: Betreff: Re: Kudo's in Home?

Forget my last post. Question MusterBuster, Did you, the mods or the home managers ever sit down and look through specifically top kudoed posts? Because if you did then kudos should stay if not then get rid of them.

The way I see it is kudos highlighted good posts to admin, ok there was maybe spam, but I'm sure you guys know a bull***** post when you see one.

If kudos were for purely for "our" purposes then get rid of them, this community ain't mature enough to handle the power of kudos, and I'm not just talkin about the people who abuse them, people who care enough to post "I think we should get rid of kudos" and "How has this post got this many kudos?", are just as bad, I mean they're ******* kudos why do you care? To get your post count up? What other reason is there?

Of course they did, thats part of their job, thats why kudos are gone, the system was being abused, the most kudoed post was often not the most helpfull one.

Agree with you on that. In fact, I have given legendary Sydneysider yer_mum a kudos point or twa in the past

You may be shocked at her age too.

@fski & @Finnmacool

You are too kind. And happy to be simply known as just one of the guys, mate.

@milnerant

You cheeky thing. But that's way off topic!

On-topic: More Kudos Kisses! *happy dance

See, Kd removal will probably bring about Kudos Reply Kisses, increasing traffic. Or not.

More +1 Kudos Kisses, more chances of posting off-topic.

More chances of posting off-topic, the higher the chances of rage and vengeance.

More rage and vengeance, the higher the number of reported posts.

The higher the workload - erm - the higher the chance people could get banned.

The more people are banned, the quieter the place will be.

The quieter it is, the less posts.

*Now in deep thought

Kudos (Kd) is subjective and personal  - the high number of Kd on a post does not necessarily it's the most helpful. To me, it really only reflects the shared sentiment and mood of the people at a given point in time, whatever that sentiment or mood is. It could be driven by agreement, anti-establishmentarism, anger, humour, brotherhood, Freudian complexes - regardless, it's a uniting community activity (well, it should be anyway). Those focusing on the Kd size and abuse are the minority, and everyone knows who they are. Everyone.

Seriously, there's so much better things Home-related things to do around here than to garrumph and harrumph and compare Kd sizes. Like:

  • Post the goofiest avatar smile. (I'm a joker, I know)
  • Compete for a virtual toss-off with the coin.(Tails I win)
  • Recommend the best music to Ska to. (Ya mom mon.)
  • Arrange to meet up in the theatre to watch a movie (bet you haven't been in there lately - you can dance or sit & chat. Fun way to annoy the kids!).

And if y'all get Kd for this, be happy. If you don't, be happy anyway - try it sometime. Moving forward is a good thing.

Sadly, removing Kd will never change people's perceptions in their heads, and once this is over, other targets will be selected. *nods Before you know it, post views will become something so wrong and shameful.

"What? Your thread got 16627k views? I smell self-promotion and self-love! Viewmongers! Off with his head! He turned me into a newt but I got better. He's made of wood, floats in water, so he's a witch!

Burn the view count! BURN IT!"
