Opinion Piece: There's No Place Like Playstation Home?

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I'm not really a regular poster here in this forum, but I am a regular user of Home.  I thought you might be interested in an article I've recently written about PlayStation Home for D+PAD Magainze (www.dpadmagazine.com).

Take a look here:

Home get's a lot of stick across the internet, and  I thought it was about time someone took a more sober approach to exploring it problems and merits!

Hope you find it interesting!!

Hi OP

A very good article. You obviously do use Home quite a bit. Ive been using it for 13 months and found it hard to find fault in anything you said, all 3 pages of it. Maybe your next opinion piece you could expand on your thoughts about Home and express what you think is the direction Sony should be moving in to further enhance the platform.

I would read it :smileywink:

As a relatively new user I found it to be a good read too.

And i think Gigglz suggestion about a future article is a good one too

Re: Opinion Piece: There's No Place Like Playstation Home?

Sound like you really enjoy Home!

Got some good points there, are right that Home can be a huge turn-off at first glance, does take effort to get to like the service.

Things like lag, load times, queing, lack of functionality, keyboards, mic's, no in-Home from HDD music access, anything up to 3.99 on a solitary item, sometimes as little as a top.. can be a bit of a put-off.

But you mentioned the good things too, and was a nice overview of it :smileyhappy:

Are right when you say Home is about two things, space and users. Isn't anywhere better than with friends on Home, it can be a super experience ^^

But yeah it is flawed, everyone recognizes that, but as ya say on page 2, the updates and improvements are quicker and more frequent, is getting better.

And old cliche is Home is what you make it and what you put in, and you sound real happy about Home, probably cos ya put alot in. Will find the most negative people are the one's that don't give it as much a chance. Like myself, i used it today for about 40 mins and left it crying. So that'll as it always does put me off of it, and make me anti-Home for a while, until next update.

But there's more reason to visit Home now, and the thing itself is improved, just needs tweaks and a re-haul of repetitive areas of visit. But it's on the right tracks.

Was a real good article :smileyhappy:

^ that makes me sound like a crybaby! I have a problem with my emotions, get high's and low's really frequent, so just little things like a perverted message makes me feel like crap for a week. Is just little things, every one get's them, is just i got no emotional control so i get ridiculously over-effected. Makes me either cry alot or fight alot, which is kinda why i got a bad 'rep' on this forum too.. am a bit too pathetic for people to bother with. Which is ok, heh ^^

Re: Opinion Piece: There's No Place Like Playstation Home?

Good article!

I don't use Home much at all, and when I do go it doesn't really keep me entertained for more than 30 mins at a time. BUT, it's potential is huge. It just needs to give the average PS3 gamer a reason and desire to go on it.

If I could go on Home and invite a couple of friends who are not currently not on Home to my apartment, and they could accept the invite and meet me in my apartment within a matter of seconds, it would then have the ability to really take off. Until then I think it will be mainly used by the hardcore (you lot) and by people like me who like to go on and have a nosey every month or so.

Let me listen to music and watch videos off my HDD with friends and I imagine I'd be on a lot more.
