Pimp my Avatar

[ Edited ]

Welcome to Pimp my Avatar

The idea of this is simple, use the customisation skills in the Playstation Home's wardrobe and create some original looking avatars.  The more whacky the better, and make sure to bling them out with the necessary items.  Originality is key, use your imagination.

Due to the nature of Home, the customisation tools will inevitably be upgraded, therefore use the current skills that are on offer.  Its pretty straight forward to get creating, interface is easy to navigate.  A lot of experimenting to make sure everything looks right will be needed if you want to create Britney's "Hit me one more time" look. There are preset avatars to use as a foundation.

This is open to all, use what you have, do not feel the need to go off buying the entire contents of the shopping mall, most of the free clothing can be used to create some great creations.

Use a digital camera to take photos and upload to a website such as photobucket, it is free to use.  Other sites such as imageshack and flickr are great, websites of similar uploading can also be used.  Enter the image link into the "Insert/edit image icon (the one with the tree when making a post) and press insert.  The forum tools now auto edit the size of the images to fit the 600 pixel width limit. You can alter the sizes of the images using the scaling tool found at each corner of the images when inserted.

Suggestions are welcome for challenging users to recreate your favorite musician/band, actor or something fantasy based.

Re: Pimp my Avatar

This is an attempt at one of the characters in the new Star Trek movie... I didn´t get it right at all, but I think it goes to show how versatile the face modelling interface can be:

Also, I did need to use the face structure option here. I´ve read some some people say this option was pointless, but It´s there for a reason (sorry, probably well-known facts next, but I really justgot to know it).

The structures in some way set the range of change each of the face features will move in, the limits or even the direction, I think. It changes features without moving the gauges I normally used before knowing this, so they can be moved further. In other words, if you want to make a Japanese character, you will need to choose the corresponding structure, or else the eyes will never get oblique enough. Or if you want a really wide nose, it´s better to use the H structure. Playing with mixed structures would provide even more possibilities to face modelling...

Ok, ok, sorry milnerant... Whacky:
