Re: PlayStation Home Scheduled Maintenance: 14th March 2012

Looks to me the developers are running out of ideas. Hey, they could pay attention to the customers, there's some free ideas, but naaaaaa, we'll give them gnomes instead.

Re: PlayStation Home Scheduled Maintenance: 14th March 2012

A Zelda fan that didnt enjoy Darksiders!?! Im suprised you didnt get sucked into it seeing as they ripped off, er I mean paid homage to, many of the elements from Ocarina of time, ah well. I can see what youre saying about games like FlOw, Flower etc ThatGamecompany do ignore the rules when it comes to making games such as losing lives, scores, killing and all that jazz (see what I did there ^^) and its no suprise their games get very favourable write ups from jaded reviewers who must be sick of having to play all the identikit fps games that are so popular these days. All im saying is just because their games are unusual and esoteric doesnt automatically qualify them as classics. As for world of goo you mentioned, no I havent played that (and Im a bit scared to google it because god knows what google will suggest if I type in WORLD OF GOO lol) please tell me its a teenage boy in his bedroom simulator, because that would be EPIC lol

Re: PlayStation Home Scheduled Maintenance: 14th March 2012

@Fury LMAO! No, it's not a Teenage Boy in His Bedroom simulator, it's a puzzle game where you use goo of different viscosities to build a tower, to the goal. It's another little gem. You can find it on PC, or on the VC store for the Wii. As for Darksiders, I found the chunkyness of the visuals off-putting, and I got leathered by some weird thing about an hour into it, which just kinda irked me. I'm pretty fast to leave a game unused if it does too many of the wrong things too early on, one of those wrong things is killing me quickly and efficiently early on in the game. Ocarina of time is one of the best games ever made, glad to see you have such good taste! I know what you mean about jaded reviewers too, I was one. I guess it is easy to jump on anything that breaks from the mould, but I could say I thought L.A Noire, Batman AA and AC, RDR, LBP, FO3, The AC series, Heavy Rain, SotC, Ico and Dead Space but to name a few were all GREAT games. The only reason I'm going on about flOw, Flower and Journey (now played) is the way they insist on you really FEELING them. It's a real shame you can't see it Fury, you obviously know a good game when you see one. How about giving them another play through, you have played them, right?

Re: PlayStation Home Scheduled Maintenance: 14th March 2012

I've only played flower and it did nothing for me. A lot of people say it relaxes them, it did the complete opposite to me and actually wound me up because of the sixaxis controls and I found I could never get my group of petals to go where I wanted them to. Thats not down to the game being bad though, thats just a failing of sixaxis and my ropey hand to eye co-ordination. Yeah I googled Goo and it reminded me of the good old days of Home computing gaming on the commodore 64 (god Im showing my age now) and made me think of games like chucky egg. I'll get round to downloading it eventually as I do like quirky little puzzlers like that. Going back to darksiders though (sorry), you've got to go back to it as you are really missing out on a treat. The first boss in the game is probably the hardest to beat mainly due to the fact War isnt very powerful at the start and has a low health bar, but as the game progresses you get more skills and health making the mountain not so hard to scale. The game starts off more like GOW where its just a hack and slash button masher but as you gain more gears and abilities its definately leans more to a zelda  (OOT in particular) type quest where you need specific items to solve and conquer certain dungeons and beat the boss and the use of your grey matter is more important than how fast you can spam the Sqaure button. Personally I loved the over the top comic book style of the visuals but I dont think they will age well and will look terrible im sure when the next gen consoles come out, But by then I hope I'll be playing Darksiders 4 or 5 with four player co-op so i wont care :smileywink:

Im using my ps3 browser and the ps3 browser doesnt allow for line breaks. Seeing as you love to complain, complain to Sony about that. It might get resolved then.

Tell you what Fury, I'll cut you a deal; I'll dig out my copy of Darksiderson your recommendation, if you stick a tenner on Journey? C'mon, for the price of 40 smokes, or admission to a film, it's worth a shot (no sixaxis, I promise).
