PlayStation Access Magazine: Fashion in Gaming

Hey boys and girls!

It's been a while, I hope you're all OK and getting horrendously excited about Christmas.

These days I'm working on a project called PlayStation Access. A part of Access is our magazine, catchily called ACCESS Magazine (we're geniuses, I know). Our first issue covered a few subjects, the main one being War Games. We spoke to war veterans about their experiences of real-life war and why, when they have some down-time, they prefer to spend it playing first-person shooters.

Our next issue will focus on fashion in gaming and the way that people represent themselves in virtual worlds. This is where you come in!

We need some examples of the way people dress themselves in PlayStation Home and why they choose to wear what they wear. To do this, and for a chance to feature in Issue 2 of ACCESS Mag, I need you to take a photo of your avatar and place it in this forum thread.

Here's exactly what you should do:

1. Go into PlayStation Home, dress in whatever clothes you feel comfortable in, then take a photo using the Home camera tool. The photo should be a full body shot with no other avatars in the image. You can strike a pose if you like, but remember that we need to see what you're wearing - so avoid the poses which cover up your chest. Also - consider the lighting and make sure it's not too dark or bright.

2. Post that image here. Moshii made an excellent guide on how to do this, which you can find here: http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Home-Events-and-Fun/Home-How-To-The-Camera/td-p/9...

3. Along with your picture, post answers to the following questions:

a) Describe your look

b) How did you pick your look?

c) What does your look say about your avatar?

d) What does your look say about the real-life you?

Try to keep your answers short, sweet and informative

4. Hit post and wait! We'll drop you a PM here on the forums if we decide to feature you in the mag.

a) Describe your look

MusterBuster is wearing a blue PlayStation T-Shirt with Dizzee Rascal branded jeans, beige baseball cap and beige trainers.

b) How did you pick your look?

It's quite heavily based on what I wear in real life, but it's also heavily influenced by the things I love - like PlayStation and Dizzee.

c) What does your look say about your avatar?

It says that MusterBuster is someone who loves music, is a PlayStation mega-fan and has absolutely no idea about fashion what-so-ever

d) What does your look say about the real-life you?

It says that I'm not too fussed about looking smart and am relaxed about how I represent myself.

1: Currently wearing the Wipeout HD animated white shirt, the ice breakers woolly penguin hat. The Halloween skeleton gloves (only because it matched the wipeout shirt), The motorstorm dirty jeans and some blue trainers.

2:I like to wear whatever takes my fancy whenever I log on, as soon as I sign on I go through the wardrobe looking for an outfit. hands, Head gear, glasses, torso, legs and feet but I always make sure whatever I pick it's something you'd want to be seen in in real life (So no silly costumes)

Though I tend to once in a while wear promotional items for spaces I REALLY like or just won e.g the Audi Space is brilliant so I once in a while wear their items or after I finally beat the InFamous mini games, I wore my medic outfit for a little while.

3: My avatar says I'm stealthy and twitchy because I rarely stay in one place always jumping from one space to the next trying everything out.

4: My look says...I'm uber awesome and uber trendy in real life...yeah...okay maybe not.

a) Describe your look- It's a cross between a cat and a lemur that dresses to impress!

b) How did you pick your look?- The cat hair and lemur tail are my fav HOME items that I own. And the top and skirt combination with the shoes I thought looked quite cute with the matching colours.

c) What does your look say about your avatar?- It says that my avatar is a free spirited girl who enjoys mixing different clothing pieces together to create something special.

d) What does your look say about the real-life you?- It sats that I'm a animal and fashion lover- plus a lover of all things HOME!

My look is Lara Croft Underworld outside with Meryl (from MGS) style hair!

I picked this look because it's the best outfit I own in Home, plus it makes my avatar look badass AND have a great arse, what could be better?

The look says my avatar is sexy but badass, don't get on her nasty side!

In real life I love to cosplay so my character reflects that! Plus I am a huge Lara Croft fan and so's my avatar

It says that I like my casual ware, anything that's presentable and comfortable

Casual, it's very plain and simple, but it leaves a great impression

Simple! I had an image in my head of what I wanted my avatar to look like, a mixture of both the real me, and the wannabe me!

d) What does your look say about your avatar?

My look says my avatar is very relaxed, chilled out and up for anything

Grey Long sleeved shirt and combat trousers. Sonic Tshirt and black jeans.

b) How did you pick your look?

I picked it based on what I wear most often and what I was wearing that day.

c) What does your look say about your avatar?

I'm quite a casual guy who dresses his Avatar like himself... and likes sonic.

d) What does your look say about the real-life you?

I'm quite "relaxed" about my appearence.

a) Describe your look

Believe it or not, its a cat outfit.

b) How did you pick your look?

I picked this look because as soon as I saw this outfit on the store, I immediately loved it. I noticed how other avatars we're kind of all the same, all the animal avatars I saw hanging around on Home we're Bunny's and Dogs, Cat avatars we're and still are very uncommon to find, and since cats are my favorite animal, I picked this look for me, I wanted to stand out from the crow in a funny unusual way.

c) What does your look say about your avatar?

I'm not sure opinions vary from people to people, some say that I'm high on illegal substances because of the cat face being all like '@_@ Duuude wat....?'. Others say I'm just depressed and lonely.
Well, at my eyes i just think 'Hey, I'm a friendly, reserved but sometimes a funny guy'.

d) What does your look say about the real-life you?

It says I'm a guy who can get along with pretty much everybody.
