Hi you miserable lot
![]()
You could do with some cheering up! I bring you a thread which draws a lot of comparisons between the art of Home and real life. At times you might say to yourself "who thought up with these crazy dance moves?", "I've seen those clothes somewhere before..." and "this space reminds me of somewhere I've been".
I will get you started, then I want to see you come up with some of your own!
so...let's begin with:
So what are them dance moves all about then?
A lot of the dance moves are actually taken from the break dancing movement of the 80's. Even some of the poses are! If you have seen 'You Got Served' you might recognize some of them. However, I think it's safe to say the EU Home team that were around in 2008 were heavily into clubbing and dance music. A lot of the moves and threads you see in Home are shown off with flare in 2 particular music videos; Utah Saints - 'Something Good 08' and Skepta - 'Rolex Sweep'.

Dance moves: Running man, Rock and Roll (beginning move), Casual, Cabbage Patch, Bodypop
Poses: Hero, Defiant
Removed dances: The one where you grab the leg was in Home once if I'm not mistaken.
Clothing: A lot of the Playground range inspired by these vids. The newsboy hat and shades are also nods to the Something Good video.
And dem Threads, whiteboi?
Well, there are other clothes more recently that have been modeled around old trends and new trends. Lockwood's Drey selection usually has items based on modern styles and iconic looks throughout the last 3-4 decades. As I pointed out in another thread, Lockwood recently released a couple of sets for girls that are somewhat a nod to the days of Flashdance and Kate Bush. They also pandered to those Usher wannabes:
Some other ones to note: The Cooper (Bradley Cooper's 'Limitless' Haircut, haircuts immitating the likes of Katie Perry, Russell Brand, Brad Pitt, Prince Harry, and more).
Okay okay, and the Home spaces? C'mon, they're unique, too, right??
The views offered by the Harbour Studio are hard to pinpoint to a world location, it could be any old harbour in Europe or South America right? Nah, it looks like it's modeled extensively around wealthier parts of southern France (Nice) and Monaco's harbours. Here's a quick shot of St. Tropez Harbour:

Now doesn't that look like it's the view to your right of the studio? Also note Nice has a prominent lighthouse accessible via a long footpath, spookily similar to the lighthouse you see in the same view from your Harbour Studio. The architecture of the studio itself on the other hand is like that of more modernized locations (Monaco).
Oh, and does Irem Beach remind you of a real getaway? It should do, the same type of luxury experience you would expect...at the Maldives! Everything from the crab walking around on the beach at Granzella, to the huts, the rocks, the trees. It's based on the Maldives. One of the most expensive luxurious places in the Sun you can go. Here's a quick peek. You can make your own comparisons, too.
WHEW! I bet you're tired now! Okay, I look forward to seeing what you guys can find
get searching!

Must be hard work cleaning all those diamonds. But tell me who actually buys one of them??
I know the chair in home isn't actually a chair , but still looks similar to the real thing.

Krazy, the chair is great...we have one. It was from a site on the internet a few years ago but can't remember the name. One thing I do remember is that it was expensive, try a google search for massaging reclining chairs...results show all different styles.
