Follow-up following the Xi meet the other night -
First off, hints and changes. The store defacement, the hidden message inside the newsletter, the background music returning to the Hub, a raft of new Stapler Ornament messages recently added (I think). The Veilcorp website, various affiliated social networking accounts, cubehouse playing devil's advocate, and nDreams_Joey's recent great interest in old Xi players.
So - the hidden message in the newsletter came in April, after a bunch of changes and additions to the veilcorp website and SN accounts. The website updates could be even more recent. Cubehouse ventured the opinion that he reckons the company might be real. Well, if nDreams lost control of their intellectual property, I'm a salty slug. Unless I missed somethng fairly big and obvious, my money's sat on cube being unreliable following his jaunt to nDreams... Whether as a pawn, or by agreement.
Last Thursday's update saw the background music return to Home, and a new/old poster appear in the Store, advertising the easter discount which happened this year.
The poster could be interpreted a number of ways. First proferrred was "humour regarding old shop signs". I'm not so sure on that. Could another discount period end a 12 weeks run of xi-ii? Quite possibly. This notion would fit the fact that the Autumn "holiday period" is a bad time for overriding events, and would then place Xi 2 in the first quarter of next year - an ideal lul for such a project, and reflective of the oriiginal compaign. Considering Stapler's query "What will Stapler give gadget friends for Christmas?", this seems even more likely. I had considered the end of the campaign could be Christmas, but it doesn't fit right. Not enough hype, yet ;P
One of staplers messages concerns AUrora and flying too high. This could indicate something Cloud Hunter related, coupled with stapler's version of wysiwyg - WYSIONWYGAA (WHat You See Is Often Not WHat You Get At All), and again possibly linked to the Christmas present question. Is it possible that CLoud Hunter won't merely be another game of Aurora? Could the tent be this run's version of the Xi logo? Postulation won't answer the question, but it's good to ask it.
Trashed Stapler has been a feature of Aurora ever since I returned, so I can't comment on how new it is, but guessing that was early on in the hype campaign. I had presumed i was always part of the Xi island, but if someone could say when it appeared, that would be good. Also the 'phone box, though mentioned in the Teller of Tales as a mystery, this doesn't mean it's not related somehow. The original pics of Aurora in the store don't have it, but that's likely just a matter of timing. Could the phonebox be connected to Xi somehow, and will the whole of aurora be found to be a starting/holding ground? Great way to build an army - which if you remember, the Xi ending required as the next step.
I have TOTALLY lost my thread here, so there's loads I've not mentioned.... but on he back of 3 hours sleep and a mild headache, that'll do for now.
Final comment - either Xi 2 is on the horizon, or nDreams are shamelessly invoking Stapler and Xi to attract attention to recent releases. I find that far too distasteful to be an option, and even less likely than losing the veilcorp domains.
C'mon they you Garys, let's have your thoughts.

Edit to previous post - background music returned to the Hub on Thursday, not Home, sorry. It's felt very strange being so silent.
Remembered a few more bits - the veilcorp.com and veilcorporate.com websites are very much part of the game still, as are their partners/advertisers, insider's cash and usa property direct, or whatever it was. Insider's cash is dodgy at best, the prices on the property site are a bit off, you mgiht say, and both have far too many errors and stock images even to be a scammers site. A real company just wouldn't do business with them - or at least, I ruddy wouldn't.
Arguments regarding SSL certificates, registered entities, customers and contacts are irrelevant at this stage - nDreams have had 3 years to improve their hand, and the irony behind VC's Asset Protection services, hosted on a seemingly yoinked asset (veilcorp.com) is fantastic. All elements can be done easily and fairly cheaply - and there's nothing legal stopping registration of entites that don't intend to trade in anything, so companies involved could happily be bonafide LLCs, and still part of the game.
I also feel many business owners wouldn't think twice if offered the chance at some free publicity, by providing smoke and mirrors. The chocolatier, for example, likelu enjoyed a slight boost to trade and interest following his involvement. Plus, it's just so cool.
So, either something's afoot, or I've lost my touch and my noodles.... plus some respect for a certain producer..... Too many things have happened, and I doubt they'd invoke stapler as a ploy for attention. I doubt they'd lse control of veilcorp's domain. It is most doubtful It is most improbable that imporbable things do not happen, and if the solution to a problem solved is not beautiful, then the solution is wrong, to quote. While not directly relevant, perhaps, this problem has two solutions - the ugly, and the beautiful.
Sorry for multiple posts, but hey, the voices in my head need a chance.
Feel free to jump in, anytime... Heh

You already know my views on this new turn of events, you used some of them ![]()
All I can add is what I said at the meeting.
The best publicity, is old publicity. Reworked for a new demographic, incorporating past achievements and aimed at new ventures.
read your second and third posts again. I think your bullet points are aimed at the wrong head
But then I was Veilcorp in 09. I could be in 12. Or am I just a red herring?
I will point out though, nDreams were meant to release Aurora 1.6 at the end of August, but probably pushed it back due to the Hack project they just worked on for iPad. So we may see something Xi related develop midweek.
Thats all for now.
Keep digging for clues....

I ran out of edit time.
You might want to click this link http://www.who.is/whois/veilcorp.com/
Anyone else see this Utah company is registered in READING, Berkshire?
Also, is it just me that thinks the logo under the name.com video, looks suspiciously like the nDreams logo but green?

Hello, club fellows (and let me first state how proud I am of that), devils advocate here...
That is indeed an amazing find, guardianhawk, let me dig a bit further into it. First, have a look at what happened to alphaafk.com: http://www.who.is/domain_archive-com/alphaafk.com/ . Seems like that domain is actually available. They let it expire, maybe on 2009-08-01. On the other hand, xijess.com was updated and will be until 2013-02-12: http://www.who.is/domain_archive-com/xijess.com/ .
A similar archive about veilcorp.com reads like this: http://www.who.is/domain_archive-com/veilcorp.com/ . Looks like a different case, but that's not really important. What I find more meaningful is the IP listed for veilcorp.com here: http://www.who.is/dns/veilcorp.com/
Verbosely, the IP in the DNS record (50.63.219.26) is different from the one in the Whois info (89.151.90.5). If you select those IPs, right click and "go to", the first one takes you to the current Veil Corporate Financial Whatever page. The second one, the one maybe hosted somewhere in Reading (UK), takes you nowhere.
I'm not proficient in the intrincacies of the internet, so I will just say that I think the one in Reading (89.151.90.5) is listed there by mistake. Whether it is so because the info is outdated, or because it should not be listed and should remain hidden, I dare not say yet. I do think the people behind all this are more than devious enough to have thought about these finds beforehand.

If there is going to be a new Xi, then Veilcorp would be irrelevant at this point, no? In the end Jess (or "Jessica"), basically did a rickroll by revealing that everything prior was all made up.
