I'm sorry if this has popped up in the forums before as i am a bit of a community noob
but why is there no universal service which combines all 3 regions EU/US/JPN instead of seperating us? Even if they still kept us on seperate servers for each region why not give us all the same content as this would not only stop all the crying and complaining of US have this and EU doesn't have that, but would also create a bigger online community as more users would feel the need to make going on home a regular occurence as opposed to once every few weeks? I find this very hard to believe that this hasn't been done from release as this would also generate a larger profit for Sony and the PS3. I mean let's be honest who wouldn't go on a spending spree if we had access to US content? :L

Hi and welcome to the forums
This feature was stoped just before home came into Open BETA and we've had no indication that we will get this back. Shame really because home was a dream of Phil Harison where multi-cultured players can meet up and jump into a game together.
On another point if they do bring it back it would stop the hacking issue

thnx for the welcome m8
Why was it stopped? Surely there must be some sort of way sony can make it work I mean c'mon their only 1 of the biggest billion dollar companies in the world
I reckon we should create some sort of petition in order to see this change. A tad extreme I know but hey i did say i was a noob
lol

Your welcome
Im afraid to say the only responce we got from it was legal issues same old excuse really along with the "localisation" excusse. We're starting to question this because thats just not a good reason anymore after we saw Resident Evil Studio lot came out in all regions on the same day and EA Sports Complex came out in both EU and US on the same day so we know it can be done.

This is nothing new to multinationals, different markets get different product lines. The automotive industry has been doing it for years.
See, there's more motivations than just legal and localisation issues to segregate markets. Their business model, set of business entities or seperated server farms (for technical and performance reasons) could be other reasons.
If I understood right from one of the presentations on the business model (aptly called discrimination before) I saw a while back, SCE* is charging 3rd party content suppliers for their services. In other words you have to pay as a supplier to get your content on a specific region.
Now I can see how this becomes one of the selling points for setting up such a model. "It's more cost efficient to set up regionally and thus easier to partake in the Sony Home(tm) business channel!". The selling point to Sony stock holders on the other hand would be; "Look! We can offer our services to multiple regions, maximizing our profits... aren't we cool!"
Ergo, the reason you don't see other content is.... MONEY!
All this is nothing new really, it's a cold hard capitalist world we live in. ![]()
