Re: WE SHOULD HAVE POKER TABLES IN HOME..

I would love poker tables as well but i have downloaded vegas poker and play on that using mic and camera and its a lot of fun so dont think the home version would measure up as they would do some half hearted attempt at

and even then they wold release it in Japan and USA and wait till 2010 for us Brits to get it

Re: WE SHOULD HAVE POKER TABLES IN HOME..

Would this be for money?  If so, I doubt it will be out in the US at all due to the laws about online gaming there - and Sony's risk-averse attitude.

Obama may seek to relax these laws though - as he's not beholden to the Christian Right like Bush.

Re: WE SHOULD HAVE POKER TABLES IN HOME..

yea im actually a croupier, and posted up about the laws and regulations of online gambling as i know a fair bit about it,

but its just gone to waste because ppl make new threads on the same topics, as my post was pretty in-depth and long....

basically it doesnt matter that the U.S cant legally gamble...

check out the PKR business model (3d poker game perfect for console gaming)

or look up 'fun' casinos for hire - you pay an entry fee and get limited 'fun' chips not really worth anything but play for prizes etc

Re: WE SHOULD HAVE POKER TABLES IN HOME..

this brings up quite a bif discussion really!

they could do a casino sections i guess, but would it be just free or for money(eg promoting gambling) im all up for it really, but might be abit of decession for sony themselves on,

Re: WE SHOULD HAVE POKER TABLES IN HOME..

please someone find a thread on poker with my post on it!

it answers all these questions lol

tbh gambling is HUGE in asia, and sony are not likely to be against it.

you can play real and 'play' money on the same pokergame.

the u.s can only play with the 'fun' chips, but if your european or asian etc, you register your debit/credit card (acts as proof of age/addresse)

and can deposit real money.

Re: WE SHOULD HAVE POKER TABLES IN HOME..

There is also the issue of age restrictions.  If Poker is available on Home, even if it's not for money, 16 year olds could get "hooked" and sue Sony for becoming gambling addicts.

Yes there are other ways that 16 year olds can play poker for fun - but Sony is the one with the deep pockets and so worth suing.

[ Edited ]

thats a key issue with the size of sony, and im sure the marketing team would have nightmares over it,

perhaps a tougher stance would do it, where as you have to register a debit/credit card for age verification regardless of playing

for 'fun' money or real

you have to be 18 to enter a casino in the EU because of laws against this sorta stuff ( even if a kid flashed I.D at

the reception area, got through and was checked by bouncers, id be liable for losing my licence if i dealt a card to him)

so a casino area would need to be age restricted to at least 18, more likely 21
