Couldn't complete the process of reserving HDD space!

[ Edited ]

As the title of the thread says. The process of reserving HDD space for Playstation Home to boot couldn't be completed. The Home icon appears and the white colour reaches exactly to just before the left half of the upper triangle of the icon of Home then nothing happens. The loading icon on the upper right corner of the screen works, whereas the flashing light of my PS3 hdd stops!

I got a 320GB slim model since 10 months and it's been working perfectly. The only problem that I've met thus far is gaining access to Home.

Note: I have around 180GB free disk space.

Have you tried deleting it and reinstalling?

No, I didn't.

As I spotted someone, who has the same problem as mine, saying that deleting Home didn't solve the problem.

Re: Couldn't complete the process of reserving HDD space!

It looks like your Home cache is corrupted.
Delete Home (press triangle on the Home icon - note, this can take a considerable time). When the delete has finished, then select the Home icon again
This will prompt you to download Home. In the setup, initially choose a 3GB cache size. When in Home, you will have to re-download all public and private spaces, as you visit them.

If this is not successful, then it may be that the file system on your hdd is the issue. Best visit the PS3 Tech help board for info about fixing that.
Good luck!

Thanks for the decent reponse hgwells.

But if Home cache is corrputed, wouldn't the Home icon appear as a corrupted file?
