Can anybody please tell me if it's possible to turn off the 'chat logs', and if it is, how?
I've recently tried two different activities which require navigation via the L3 joystick, but it's impossible to use without pressing the button, which toggles the chat log, which obscures the left third of the screen, and it's driving me crazy!
Thanks in advance.

Hi welcome to Home and the Community ![]()
Yes there's 2 methods of doing it.
Method 1. Is toggle the left analog stick so it just stays at a little black box. ( This will stay like this untill you load Home again).
Method 2. You can switch it off completely by going into your PDA.
If using the simple layout then it's Settings > Communication > Text > Disable.
If your using the Advanced layout ( old style PDA menu ) then you open your PDA and scroll down to Communication > Text > Disable.
( Note: if you turn it off then you won't be able to see someone talking to you in the chat bubble above their head. And I think it's the same with your avatar).

Thanks for replying, but unfortunately neither of these methods work: Method 1 — for the reason stated in my original message, Method 2 (if by 'PDA' you mean the Main Menu), — I've gone into Main Menu > Options > Settings > Personal > Chat log and set everything that can be turned off to 'OFF', and it makes no difference, but I suspect we may be at cross-purposes as the sequence 'Settings > Communication > Text > Disable' is impossible in the PS3 Main Menu.

It's okie ![]()
erm you know when you press "Start" in Home it brings up a PDA like device. Well if your usiing the swivel menu then you go to the spanor icon then scroll all the way down to Communication then go to text and disable it.

Thanks for getting back to me.
This is where I have a problem. 'Start' - yes, 'Spanner'(options) - yes, but scrolling down to 'Communication' there, only presents the options, 'Phone Friend', Accept Call' or 'Hang Up'. Which is why, as I said before, I went to 'Spanner'(options) > Settings > Personal > Chat log' and turned everything 'off'.
Above 'Chat log' in the menu is 'Communication', and I set 'Text' to 'off' there, too. But it makes no difference — the logs are still there!

Oh ...
What do you mean by not making a difference ? It should block all the text ... have you tried rebooting Home to see if that does it? I think it should take effect then.

Thanks again, but I not only left 'Home', I shut the machine down for an hour or so, and the next time I logged on and entered 'Aurora', there was the text!
However, when I tried leaving 'Aurora' and entered 'Bowling Alley', I could manoeuvre my avatar (with L3) without the log popping up, and when I deliberately clicked on L3 to bring up the log, instead of it containing the chat of the bowlers, it was still showing the names and levels achieved of the players of the orb-hunting thingy on 'Aurora', so I'm starting to think it's related to that.

You need to go to "Activity" within the chatlog settings and hide/turn that off. The white text comes under activity. Turn that off and I think that should solve the problem. ![]()

Nope, the Activity channel is a chat-channel just like Local, Group and Club. De-activating it won't help on the problem here.
If you want to disable all text chat in Home, you need to go to:
Main Menu > Settings > Personal > Communication > Text, and choose disable. This will disable the text from other users on Home, I'm not sure if it'll disable text such as Aurora notes aswell.
