I can't open my routers nat :( Can anyone help?

For the first time ever, I was able to get a NAT type 1 last night on my PS3. All I did was go to IP passthrough/DMZ on my motorola 2210 modem/router. I told it to put "User-configured computer" in DMZ mode. I, then, set my PS3 up with the public IP address it showed on my network, and voila! Type 1.

However, when I went to play call of duty MW3, I could not connect to their online server. Never a problem when I had strict Nat/type 3. Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be? I have been stumped over this whole thing for a while now, but feel as if I'm getting closer.

I share my line with a computer. They are hooked up directly, with the help of a 5 port hub. No additional router is invovled.

HELP!! :Stupid:

Re: I can't open my routers nat :( Can anyone help?

probly best to use a router rather than a usb muilt as that can be the problem sure it will giv you a nat type 2 but thats perfectly normal never on any account get a nat 3 thats where there is real problems

im on a nat type 2 never had any real issues playing games or anything and im wired wit ps3 and 4 wireless devices

nat type 1 = behind a modem only

nat type 2 = behind a router +modem

nat type 3 = error ( or dns issue)

hope this helps

teh memory of u will bloom like flower in garden of me hart

Do you have MW2 or Black Ops? If you do then try going online with them first then go back to MW3.  I know this sounds silly but this happened to a friend of mine and he almost had to 'trick' his computer into thinking it had the right nat type for him to play online with certain games because of his NAT. Try it :smileytongue:

Really though you shouldn't be messing with your settings especially if they worked fine before. If it's not broke, don't fix it! If you can't get any solutions to this then you may have to call your ISP. You could try putting your settings on your PS3 back to default and doing the same with your router. If your not sure then try looking for some video's on youtube :smileywink:

Hoipe this helps

Hello and welcome to the PlayStation®Community.

This post would be better suited in the Tech Support boards located here:

http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Technical-Help/bd-p/361

In furture I'd suggest you post issues like this there as you will get a faster responce from people who know what their talking about.

To save a double post I'll assist you here.

Firstly I would like to clarify something. When you say you set your PS3 up with your public IP address as shown on your network, do you mean the IP address assigned to your modem or the IP address your modem assigned to the console. If your PS3 IP address is something like:

    • 10.X.X.X
    • 172.16.X.X
    • 192.168.X.X

then thats the address assigned by your modem which is the correct one to use for your DMZ.

Now onto your connection issue. You are unable to connect to the online servers with NAT Type 1, but you had no issues when you had NAT type 3. Can you please confirm that your Network layout is as follows:

                                  PC

                                   |

                                   |

PS3 - - - - - Modem (Motorola 2210) - - - - - Internet

|                                    |                                          |
