For instantance this is my 2nd fail in as many days i start with a moderate dig then get jackhammer out then when i get awarded the small rock piece i sort of go medium twice and then fall...(dont really wanna just win this little rock so i go on)

Ahh okay, thankyou.

Has it caused any problems for you, like not awarding you fossils or anything?

I, personally, haven't experienced any problems yet - Touch wood:smileyvery-happy: - but then again, I have countless repeats of fossils (Which are all explained as 'new') and so actual new fossils are an absolute rarity:smileysad:

Thankyou. I guess the problem will be there for a while then, atleast until probably the next update, but as long as its giving us our fossils when it should its not too bad then

Thankyou for letting me know, I'll continue with getting them appraised then :smileyhappy:

You seem to disagree on the names of your additions for the Ammonite Fragment/Fragment of an Ammonite and the only leaf Fossil addition you both agree on is 'Fossil: Multiple Archaefructus Leaves'.

Is it possible that EU and NA areas have different Fossils as BlueCirrus, you got yours from the NA Forums? Katsuune, can you confirm that you got those names direct from Home EU from your own rewards?

About "Ammonite Fragment/Fragment of an Ammonite I guess Katsuune is right.

I only did a bad translation from the german description.

About the 4 mixed leaves I dont know.

I got it from NA Forums and can not confirm it myself.

What we both missed is the branch in the random section

My account is in NA, and since I got the "Ammonite Fragments I & II" a long time ago, I'm not 100% sure of the grammatical syntax but at any rate the English was originally localised for Asia Home Hong Kong (i.e. British English).  So NA descriptions should be the same as in EU English.

I mentioned in my first post getting the "junk artifact" Tree Branch exactly *once*... from a Large Clod.  Paid users seem to get it frequently enough.

Also I think I may have made a mistake.  I believe my "Horsetail Leaf" is the same fossil as the "Scouring Rush Leaf."  So we may still be missing one of the 15 leaf fossils from the list.

Further to Krazy's post above I can tell you that it's currently possible to collect:

15 Leaf Fossils
5 Trilobite Fossils

5 Ammonite Fossils

4 Ramphorhynchus Fossils

4 or 5 different sized stones

A rusty tin can

An old tyre

A branch

I don't know if it's possible to collect any Ammonite or Ramphorhynchus fossils at this time with the standard tools though [maybe someone can confirm or deny that?] as I haven't got any of those yet.

That mysterious woman doesn't seem to give any rarer fossils than the suspicious man either but she does sometimes find 2 fossils in 1 clod of dirt.

Hope this helps!

Standard (free tool) users can currently dig up the following collections:

All the "junk" artifacts:

* Small, medium and large stones, rusty tin can, old tyre, and (yes) the tree branch (although like most people I've only seen that once).

*15 Fossilised Leaves

*  5 Trilobite Fossils  (all obtainable by free tools)

*  5 Ammonite Fossils (all obtainable)

None of the Rhamphorhynchus fossils, nor the Coral, Footprint, nor freestanding giant dino bones are available without the Advanced or Legendary Tools.  In addition any "Large Clods" that you excavate always produce junk artifacts.  I suppose this alone may be a sufficient incentive to purchase at least ONE of the paid tools.  I'm not sure though which tool would be one's best bang for the money.  The Legendary Pickaxe with +1 rarity effect?  What's the benefit of that one over the others?

OK, So the one's I know of currently are (When placed on the Collection Plates, looking from left to right, row by row from top to bottom unless stated otherwise):

Random items;

  • Empty, Rusty Can
  • Small Stone
  • Moderately Large Stone
  • Large Stone
  • Chewed-up Old Tire
  • Fossil: Mammoth (Tusk)
  • Fossil: Mammoth (Tail)

5 Trilobite Fossils

  • Fossil: Trilobite
  • Fossil: Well-Preserved Trilobite
  • Fossil: Multiple Trilobites
  • Fossil: Trilobite Head
  • Fossil: Trilobite Body

5 Ammonite Fossils (Left to right, but column by column top to bottom)

  • Fossil: Ammonite Parent and Child
  • Fossil: Well-Preserved Ammonite

  • Fossil: Lobed Oak Leaf
  • Fossil: Archaefructus Leaf
  • Fossil: Multiple Archaefructus Leaves
  • Fossil: Multiple Maple Leaves
  • Fossil: Multiple Poplar Leaves
  • Fossil: Calamite Leaf

4 Rhamphorhynchus Fossils

6 Footprint Fossils

  • Fossil:
  • Fossil: Footprint of Herbivorous Dinosaur (Ankylosaur)

The ones that just say 'Fossil:' are place holders until I get them. Anyone got anything not on this list (and where it would go on it)?

My main question is; Are there any other Dinosaur bones such as the Mammoth Tusks and Tail that don't have a Collection Plate, but look more like they are meant to be displayed as a skeleton?

^^^

Added to your list the fossils which I've excavated using free tools.^^^

If Mysterious Beauty Connoisseur pre-evaluates your fossil as being "This looks slightly promising," then she will likely give you a fossil which is from 2 to 3 star rarity.  When she says "Oh look there's another fossil in here," she will always give you a fossil which is new to you.  Btw The Shady New Guy can also (occasionally) give you a second fossil from a fragment.

The freestanding fossils such as the Mammoth Tusk and Bones will be automatically displayed in the future "Granzella Museum" personal space when purchased.  The Museum positions the huge dinosaur bones in their correct orientations so you'll know which pieces are missing.

Feel free to add any corrections to anything I've mentioned :smileytongue:

That's interesting Sam!  Is that a recent update development?

You'll note that BlueCirrus and I both seem to have had the same experience with the restricted collection range.  No corals or rhamphys or dino bones, etc.

Have you gained special Granzella items (not necessarily from Fossil digging but maybe from Edo?) on any of those accounts where apparently you're entitled to dig up *anything* from Southern Island?

EDIT:

I just realized that if you have been able to receive useful items from Large Clods -- have you? -- then of course you would be able to successfully excavate rhamphy and Mammoth Bones etc.  My "Large Clods" always produce junk.  Idk if that's a bug or not.

On my other accounts I haven't purchased anything and only have the reward items from GranZella.
I should note they weren't from the bonus fragments also.

Edit: I tend to use the same method every time with the free items, pick axe, pick axe, shovel, shovel.
Whether that has an effect I don't know, but I do seem to find more large fragments that way.

Does that just make me very unlucky then? The fact that have bought the fancy pickaxe (So two fossils a day) and yet I don't have any Rhamphorhynchus, any Dinosaur bones, any complete sets or even a branch...:smileysad:

I allways use 4 times the strongest tool each which works fast and fine.

With tools which you can buy you can reach 2 founds with each digging.

Who said the 2nd place is not allowed?

Just the fact that you can't access it by conventional means Blue. If it was allowed, they would give us a rope or a path up to it, don't you think?

I think it is all about marketing.

Cool to do "forbidden" things, isn´t it.

If they want to stop this - it is very easy to stop - don´t you think?

I dunno Blue, was it as easy for them to stop people from dancing in the bowling lanes but that was what, to forbidden and cool for them to bother with too?

@ Seribal, I didn't look at the original post date. So in that case, well done on your collection!

Ok Seribal, I don't think anyone's explaining this to you very well, so here goes.

You get one dig a day (as you know) so falling is the last thing you wanna do. Personally, I NEVER use the jack-hammer. If you look at the star rating of each tool it'll also tell you how likely you are to fall using that tool. So use the hammer and spike aggressively the first couple of times then finish off with your shovel or brush. The "clods of dirt" are given in random sizes, I've had small, medium and large ones all with the default tools so it's just luck there. Just don't get greedy and go for more than one fossil per day, or you WILL fall, and when you do you loose ALL the fossils you have collected.

Which brings the next bit of advice; you can save up to 100 fossils (I think) for the girl that appears on the 7th, 17th and 27th of each month who'll give you rarer stuff than the shady guy. That's it really. I'll point out that most if the fossil furniture items are not exactly "small" either, maybe the rusty can is but the rest are a fair size.

The whole "secret excavation site" thing is part of a glitch (an actual, useful glitch) which I won't go into here as it's not really allowed...

lol no good explaining now over a month and a half after i created it , i have since collected all the fossils and they're  sitting nicely in their display cases

Would you mind stating them? I knew it is a bit much to ask but, correct me if I'm wrong, there is no completely full list of the fossils you can earn. Also, did you buy any of the tools?

I bought the pick-axe but haven't bought the shovel. I've found that I can get 2 finds by using the pick-axe 3 times and the hammer and chisel once to get one find and then repeat.
