Home Theatre problem

I have my PS3 in a seperate room, attached to Yamaha AV system.  It connects to my TV via a 15 meter HDMI 1.4 cable.

I want move, but cannot USB cable 15 meters?  It is too far!!

So I either lose surround sound and have move.  ...

or have no move.... and have full surround sound!

Anyone got any suggestions?

Re: Home Theatre problem

how about a longer cable between your PS3 and the Yamaha?

Re: Home Theatre problem

They sit side by side.....with 1m cable connecting them.

The AV system (which has MySky also going into it) then connects to TV via 15 m cable.

All is set up in different room (a side office).

Hey, you asked for "any suggestions." :smileyvery-happy:

I think your only option is to get the PS3 close enough to the TV for the camera. How you then connect the PS3 to the sound system is the next dilemma. Maybe you need another 15m HDMI cable?

What baffles me is why the TV and the sound system are so far apart... seems entirely counterintuitive to me. Are the speakers near the TV?

Re: Home Theatre problem

usb is max 5 metres but you can get longer ones with a booster

like this

add a 5m cable and thats 15m

For the same price you can get

this usb - cat5 conversion kit

to run USB over a network cable up to 50m but it only supports USB1.1 (not USB 2)

However i think you might still have trouble with the bluetooth over that distance if there are any walls in the way. Presumably your normal controllers work ok?

Re: Home Theatre problem

Another option is to move the ps3 to the tv, and buy and run a toslink cable for the audio to the amp.  Disadvantage of this is you will lose the 'channel' switching of the source in the amp.

or do what a lot of others have done and move it all to the tv, and use gaffa tape to cover the led's and iother light sources.  Thats what Ive done to my NAD, since all of its controls are an on screen menu system.
