Just got my hands on sorcery yesterday. Apart from the sleeping break we literally got glued to the game with my girlfriend and finished it in 10 - 15 hours. Well, this game was the reason why I was convinced to buy Move at first (actually my gf bought it). But the late arrival of the game somewhat disappointed us... We tried a few other games:
- sports championship: good, but it is what it is, basically a good move tutorial.
- the fight: great game, only if there weren't any calibration issues (I'm a tall guy and easily mess up he calibration even if I slightly move)
- kill zone3: still unsure about the 60+ $ investment to the sharpshooter. It ain't a move game unless you have a sharpshooter.
- Virtual pro: far too easy on the move mode, gets boring after a few hours.
Now, finally sorcery came out. I waited 5 months to buy it, since I was going out of town leaving my ps3 behind, and since I wanted to wait until the prices dropped (was around 60$ in my country when it first came out. 20$ is the game's worth and that's the price I paid for it)
My opinion:
Unless it was a move game, I would rate it 4-5/10 max: it's really short, really linear, decent graphics, decent story;
well the ambiance, music and the incredibly creative and intuitive spell system are some good points.
But the flawless application of Move control and its complementary role with the spell system makes this game unique. The best move game around. And only these two aspects would make the game perfect (10/10), If the game itself was that good...
I understand the budget and time limitations and the difficulty of working with with a raw controller such as move. So I have nothing but compliments for the developers. Actually this was what I expected from the first day, knowing these difficulties...
But now, as they've established the system pretty much greatly. Why don't they go on with it, and implement it into a larger game.
-unwillingly I'll give the example of fable (played the first version on PC); it's kind of the best game around which unifies rpg elements with action. (only as a good example, I'm not implying in any way that ps should make a clone of it).
Wouldn't a much larger game combined with the move controls of Sorcery, be a great game, which sells (=$$$, higher ps sales and a step forward for the PS Move?)
Just an ambitious idea... Don't even have high expectations on how many people will read it, but had to share it![]()
BTW, just realized the spell check function on the forum doesn't recognize PS as a word?!? Seriously?!??

As posted in the other topic on this game.
It was dumb down a hell of a lot.
Could have been an adult class adventure but was made child friendly.
(As for move titles its only shooters and angry birds that are due.
CS:GO is a Slow game but EU never go it. so can't say what move is like but then its got K&M controlls so won't be using move full time any way.)

""It was dumb down a hell of a lot""
Yeah, I think this explains it.. What I don't get is: Why are they following this marketing policy?
They first dive in the market with an ambition to overcome the "family friendly social fun" role of motion controllers. Then, what they do is exactly the same thing they were trying to overcome at first; apart from some shooters. So what I get from their marketing policy is: shooters for the big boys, everything else family friendly.
Well, family friendly gaming is only a small part of the gaming economy. Fortunately games like diablo, skyrim etc. in other words: games for the (arguably) hardcore community, are still a major part in the gaming industry.
People keep saying it's a dead project, but I don't believe that at all... Some facts:
- Unfortunately PC gaming is taking serious hits.. (Thankfully modding and communities are saving their ***es for now, but this an entirely different topic anyway...)
- Some games essentially require a mouse or a mouse-like controller.
- Motion controllers provide this in some applications: The success of Move in shooters is a solid proof for this.
- What motion controllers provide further is the control of depth in space! = 3D mouse!!!...
- Motion control tech. is rapidly finding it's way in electronics: check out the newest TV's (I don't know if TV is still the right word for it, they've become something else)
- So, motion controllers open a whole new range of possibilities for the future of console gaming.
But, shooters are not enough. They must keep on with the innovations, and I see Sorcery as a successful innovation rather than a failed game. Now take this innovation and start fitting it in bigger projects, the software/system is pretty much ready for use, why dump it after all the work?
BTW: I suddenly remembered Black&White... Those good ol' days![]()

They have to go that route because MOVE is an optional controller and previous released games can be upgraded and this is the problem...
With other 5* titles having the option to have the game engine changed to allow move controlls. then hardcore gamers don't need brand new titles as they won't buy unless theres some thing new.
As the TOP MOVE games topic shows, SCEE updated there Hardcore titles with Move...
The technology usage in these hard core games is going to be stupidly hard to beat and to offer some thing new.
Only franchise have the selling power and will be able to push games with MOVE controlls.
CS:GO is a upgrade of a Valve past title...
Dust 514 is part of Eve online...
And the biggy next year
Star Trek with Phaser controller addon...
Nothing new, same gamplay as RE5 so far from the video.
So why buy it. Its Star Trek...
Spin off Startrek Story line. writen buy the Film Makers Not the Game coders, but movie tie in still run the risk off being crap...
But Digital extreemes coded Bioshock 2 and Dark sector
(One of the best hidden under played PS3 games ever, as it was more like RE4.5 but with the wrong name on the box ) so ill wait and see.. but Its being built with what looks like Unreal 3 engine and the videos show it.
None of this is the hardcore gamers fault they are just out numbered buy casual gamers who make the profit margin big enough...
PS...
Depth of space IE moving forward is to hard for casual players, SCEE has learned that from KZ3.
Hardcore players = had no problem with mele kills.
Casual players needed mele on a button like DS3 = KZ3 patched..

The controls for Sorcery where dreadful inaccurate auto aim overkill imo, I hated it.
But I still use the Move a lot though, Killzone 3, Resistance, and start the party.
The problem is the aiming and drifting it will never be taken seriously for shooters without the infa red/light gun tec for aiming.
