Re: MOVE - Hard to recommend to a potential buyer.

[ Edited ]

The main reason I havent bothered with the Kinect is Ive already been through that kind of gaming style last-gen. anyone remember the eyetoy and all those wonderful games that came with it? yeah. You probably dont want to lol To be fair it probably is fun, but thats it. Longetivity comes in immersion and from what Ive seen on Kinect, the immersion is comepletely lacking. The kinect deos have potential to do something mind blowing, but M$ shot themselves in the foot by pretty much stating that they'll be catering for the casual gamers with it. If a casual gamer is someone who degrades themself by acting like an animal in front of thier TV, then im glad im I got Move instead lol The Move appealed to me more due to it offering something for everyone. MAG isnt everyones cup of tea, but Ive been playing for 2 months with the Move and its definately somethin the Kinect will never do. I hear M$ may be thinking of using the controller for nav in Kinect games that might need it in the future. If thats true, then...oh dear M$...shot yourselves in the foot again lol has anyone here seen kung fu live? It offers a controller-less experiance, using the PSeye, similar to the Kinect without the need for an expensive, modified camera. Just thought id point that out lol

*You know theres a Mic on the PSeye too ya know? if you go to settings and change the input to the camera then you can use that for a mic on games. The fact the Kinect has a mic is meaningless. just thought id point that out.

Re: MOVE - Hard to recommend to a potential buyer.

Here are the Metacritic scores for Move games so far.

Tumble 74
TV Superstars 56
Start the Part 55
Sport Champs 76
Heavy Rain Move 72 (Interestingly Heavy Rain without Move scores 87!) Game is made worse with Move.
High Velocity Bowling 66
Planet Minigolf 66
Res 5 with Move (no metacritic score yet) One website scores it at 2/5 and the best review i saw on a website was 8/10.
The Fight 3/10 from IGN and 4/10 from TNG

Very average and below average scores for what a lot of us are saying are very average games.
The only games for me there that a worth a look are Tumble and SC, I have these games and I think there ok nothing that blows you away. It interesting that these games were purposely made for Move apart from The Fight that is.

Re: MOVE - Hard to recommend to a potential buyer.

the OP is a troll, 36 posts since he registered 3 years ago and every post of his that i can find is to complain about playstation hardware or software, me smells an x-box fanboy

as far as move vs kinect is concerned i'll take a controller in my hand that does true 1:1 motion tracking over jumping up and down in front of a fancy overpriced camera anyday

  • If you base the quality of a game on ratings alone then you're letting the person who wrote the review dictate what you like.
  • Youtube videos that show game play video is far superior than listening to someone who has a different taste from you.

Although some of those games deserve the rating. It's only been 4 months since release people!

in 4 months you have

  1. Tumble
  2. John Daly's Prostroke Golf
  3. EyePet
  4. The Fight
  5. Sports Champions
  6. Tiger Woods

and although all bowling games in my opinion fail when compared to Wii Sports bowling, this is a good release for 4 months

in 6-8 months we will have

Sorcery

Virtua Tennis 4
Playstation Move Heroes
Socom 4
Killzone 3
Top Spin 4
No More Heroes
Mlb 11: The Show (Home Run Derby only)

Re: MOVE - Hard to recommend to a potential buyer.

@DataGhost

I'm going to try and be as un-biased as possible as I write this next statement.

In my opinion, I believe the Playstation Move is better for MY needs, because I do not want to be standing up/taking breaks every time I use a motion device. For Killzone 3 for example, I can easily sit down with the Move. From the footage I've seen, most games require you to stand, where as I prefer to be in a luxurious and relaxed position when playing games.

I believe that Kinect has gained the huge amount of sales on the marketing and the 'unique idea'. I know Eye toy was released a couple of years a go, but the main marketing campaign for Kinect is pretty much showing HD graphics with fun and unique motion sensing, which is a good way to pitch, because there are so many tech noobs intrigued by this device.

I think the Playstation Move has been treated in a bad manner. Like LeroyGreat stated, the best games are to be released in the coming months. I.E. Killzone 3, Socom 4, Sorcery, Little Big Planet 2, Playstation Move Heroes, and obviously a lot more to come. The bad thing to note about the Move as well is that its only really got 2 useful purposes (excluding the video chat); navigating the XMB and playing games. Kinect has got the luxury of actually being a whole multimedia device, with video chat, movie player, xbox live store navigation...

If Sony started out with good games, I believe the results might have been a lot better, because from the games that I've seen, the Playstation Move in my opinon has the upper hand, because it caters all forms of the gamer. It seems the Kinect would wear thin eventually, and in my opinion I think the dualshock 3 is probably the best controller, but out of Kinect and Playstation Move, I believe the Playstation Move is the better device, because of its flexibility

Re: MOVE - Hard to recommend to a potential buyer.

Kinect = Over hyped new fangled webcam. I should know, i had one and it just didnt live up to the hype. The only game i enjoyed was dance central and the rest were just poor. I could win them simply by flailing around aimlessly. The tech itself is damn fine but all the software MS have released so far is water weak.

The Move on the other hand, may to some seem like a rip off Wii Controller has a lot more potential in that it will intergrate much better with Core titles on the PS3, something kinect won't be able to do due to it's like of controller. I've played about with Sports Champions and really enjoyed it. I will admit that games which have been patched to enable Move are a bit poor (Pain, Heavy Rain) in terms of picking up the movements but other than that i cant complain.
