Re: Sharpshooter delayed

One thing I do suggest to people who are looking at it, have a look at iWaggle3D.com - some excellent technical analysis of the Move there. I tried a lot of different Move settings with/without the Sharpshooter and had the best success when I used his settings. I don't have it quit right yet, but its not too far away.

Re: Sharpshooter delayed

[ Edited ]

My Sharpshooter arrived yesterday. I bought an American one off Amazon, not only does it have a sight rail (I wish I stll had the Red Dot Sight I sold) but it was also $20 cheaper than buying it here and that's including shipping!!

Tried to play the SOCOM beta, but the servers were offline (a day early?).
Modern Combat - i'll need to fiddle with the settings as this was very wobbly and quite difficult although this may just mean I need to get used to it as it was my first attempt.
KZ3 demo - much easier than MC.

One thing I did find, all the games the calibration never seemed to centre. It was off to the left or down depending upon the game even when I did as the calibration asked. I had to work out the difference to point it away to make up the oddness. Some games even also require recalibration mid-game which was annoying. I'll fiddle with the settings till I find one that suits.

One annoyance for me though, I shoot left-handed (even though i'm right handed) so it would be nice to be able to change the onscreen gun etc to the left so it feels less *****-handed. You used to be able to flip the models in Counter Strike but i've yet to see it in a console FPS/TPS.

Oh well, i'll give it a proper go till I get used to it as it is fun pointing a proper gun at the screen. Especiallyafter seeing Battle LA last night, pew pew pew.

@Mulletino: I had a similar problem with the reticle being off centre, but I did a calibration from the XMB (Settings -> Accessory Settings -> Calibrate Motion Controller) and the problem went away.

Ah good call. I'll give that a go when I go home.

well mine just arrived today :smileyvery-happy: it's pretty sweet even though I haven't gotten to use it yet 'cause my Nav controller needs charging, I just hope the sight rail on top will take a real red dot :smileytongue: ('cause I got the US one)

I used to have a cool sig and avatar, but they don't work anymore :smileysad:

Re: Sharpshooter delayed

I picked up KZ3 for $55 so have been playing through SIngle Player with the pew pew gun. I'm getting used to it so it does kind of add anotehr element to the game, makes it feel much more arcadey.

I tried it online also but all I managed was to receive a plate with my own posterior on it. :smileysad:

@Mulletino: How's your left arm? Sore yet? :smileyhappy:

I also wouldn't use the gun for online play... the thumb-twitchers would always have the advantage.

Fine, I shoot left handed. :smileyhappy:

I did work out that after a while it helped to rest my elbows on my knees.

Aye, I did much better in the beta with the old thumbsticks, sharpshooter is deffo offline only.

Re: Sharpshooter delayed

I've been putting more time into the Sharpshooter recently. It's hard to judge because you've been playing with a controller since forever ago, and just now putting some hours into a new form of controller.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both. But it's something that becomes easier the more you play with it, and I think the only way of truly getting good with the sharpshooter is to play online with it, put yourself in that environment and force yourself to adapt. Singleplayer you can play at your own pace, so your in a much more controlled environment, its much easier to be successful with it.

The only reason I haven't returned my sharpshooter is because I believe there is potential there for it to be a better form of control for shooters. In both Killzone and Socom there are instances I've had where the sharpshooter has proved to be more useful than a hindrance. Its getting used to a new mindset. In Killzone3 I have begun to match and sometimes better my deaths with kills, and have started getting 3 - 5 kill streaks with the sharpshooter. I liked what I felt in Socom, but didn't get too much time to play with it.

Re: Sharpshooter delayed

Indeed Mr Face, I feel I may perservere with it online for KZ just to add something new, otherwise it would be just another FPS for me. This way kills feel much more rewarding, although i've got to stop panicking and pressing the wrong button when trying to melee. It will take time, but it definitely feels better and more natural to use than my Wii Zapper. If only I had a massive 3DTV. :smileysad:
