Want the PlayStation Move for £47?

[ Edited ]

Well that's what you'll be paying according to BBC news.

Check it out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8556882.stm

It's located at the bottom of the page.Apologises if this has already been mentioned, but I just saw a lot of 'less than a $100' and that doesn't really help us UKers. :smileyvery-happy:

think its a mistake Re: Want the PlayStation Move for £47?

i think its a mistake $100 converted is closer to £66.75 than £47. it looks like the currancy converter the BBC used is well out of date.

If they charge more than £30 for a PS Move, I don't think it will kick off. Afterall, every single Wii sold comes with a Wiimote and Nun Chuk. Yes, the Wii is overpriced outdated tech, but everyone has one.

If they are sold in multiples, such as 2 in a pack, then a reasonable £50 for the pair would get things rolling. Anything more than that, and I can't see it selling well, other than a few people who want to try it out.

Amusingly I just replied in another thread about this and put a minimum likely price of £40 on it myself, but £50-60 wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I think it will sell at this price and I think it will sell well as all novelty items will sell at a premium price, but I think the reality of owning one will be that there isn't much to use it on, and that the great "tech demo" that sold the idea to you in the first place isn't really as good as it looks once the initial gimmick wears off.

Totally agree with you. Pricing will probably be overpriced and people will buy it. And as you say, the tech demo, although good in the beginning, the device really needs some high quality titles to make decent use of it.

The PS Eye and Eyetoy have had very little in the way of useful games to make them worth the purchase, and other than the few PSN titles and Eye of Judgement, I have seen very little to make effective use of the PS Eye.

It's a real shame too, as they can be fun if used right.

Personally, the only thing I really miss from the Pre-HD era, is the Light Guns from the PS1 and PS2. There just isn't a decent alternative, and even the Wiimote isn't a great device for shooting things on the screen.

If the Cameras and Motion controllers keep going the way they are, I think we can see the Controllers staying for quite a while yet.

Re: think its a mistake Re: Want the PlayStation Move for £47?

the price has to be right for at least 2 as looks like main games will need 2 moves. Then there is the add on wand with the analog stick on it that cant cost to much either (£15-£20). i would not want to pay more then £50 for 2 moves and 1 add on
PS3, Wii , 360 , Gaming PC

Re: think its a mistake Re: Want the PlayStation Move for £47?

when you add on the price of the first game that launches to use them, you're probably looking at the thick end of £100 :smileysad:

which is quite a large initial outlay.

And if (as I guess is the point), you need 2 pairs - £150 mark (inc game) - which is getting into the territory of buying a Wii console.

My guess will be something similar to the EyePet deal (hopefully)
A half decent game, bundled with one pair of Move* controllers, for not much more than the standalone cost of the controllers.

* what will be the collective noun for these things anyway - a pair of Moves doesn't really sound right :smileywink:

* YLOD? * *PSN Connection Problems?* *Blu Ray Problems

And we weren't even testing for that..

Re: think its a mistake Re: Want the PlayStation Move for £47?

I can't see any attraction in one of these for me at the moment. My son has a Wii and I hate the controller..... if the purported price is right then Sony are going to need to some big game tie-ins (and not just gimmicky bits of a game) for me to consider a purchase.

Wouldn't surprise me if Little Big Planet 2 uses this a lot....

I don't want it at all thank you very much! If I wanted to wave my arms around like a class A idiot I'd buy a Wii.
