ps eye problem,, format??

ok so i have had the ps3 eye a long time ,i got the move controller and some games, (just b4 thanksgiving)and got busy playing! and i LOVE THE MOVE! but im having an issue with my setup, at first everything was good, (first week)then i thought my eye was messed up because it was rolling, scrambled, and staticy, and sometimes it would quit and say no camera found,,however it would work fine every once in a while?? wierd, i just figured it was diying, i got a new eye last night, it seemed fine and i played sports champions for 30 min or so,,

Today i fired it up to get some playing done and its doing the exact sme thing as my old eye? what tha?? I dont think the odds are in favor of getting 2 that have the exact same problem 2 years apart, so do ya think its drivers, updates? ect? im holding off on a system restore till i see if anyone knows whats going on, i have tried every setting there is, and did do a settings restore,, it actually got worse.....

Re: ps eye problem,, format??

Just try this
Remove every USB device you have plugged in. USB Hubs, sing star, steering wheels. Buzz controllers. USB Exension leads.
Now connect the PS EYE to the most right USB port.
Once thats done turn the PS3 on via the front stand buy button.
Now use a blue tooth controller to navigate XMB to the camera viewer. see how long that lasts.
Some thing worth a try before resetting to defaults.

Re: ps eye problem,, format??

ok so i tried what you said, and its working, so im guessing its a power drain issue, if nothing is draining power except the ps eye, its fine!! but if one of my 8 controllers is getting a charge, its a no go, i have 2 ps3's the one that does the move stuff is a slim 120gb with only 2 usb ports, good thing i can charge off a wall outlet, thank you for your idea it saved me redownloading over 80 gb of games n such! im off to play mag, sports champs and the fight!,

i will advise of any change thanks again, and add SIRDETH on psn if you like

Yep time to buy some more controller charging stations.
8 controllers all charging at the same time would be 4 amps of power.

USB2 only supplies .5 of an amp.

There is still something wrong with your USB, if you connect just 1 controller to recharge and 1 PS eye. your PS EYE should still work. but for now External charging will be needed for you.
if you used a USB powered hub to charge more than 2 devices you may have damaged the USB power of the PS3. A mains powered USB hub is needed for charging more than 2 controllers of a SLIM PS3.

Re: ps eye problem,, format??

I have found the ultimate fix on this forum it's called...

50hz

Flicker Reduction

I used to get calibration problems during the day time while playing the Fight, that's until I learned about this little secret.

The camera has a hard time tracking the sphere while there's conflicting light. If you reduce the flicker to 50 Hz it seems to work everytime (for me anyways) granted you turn off the lights in your house

You can change the flicker setting by following these steps.

  1. Go to settings in the xmb
  2. Go to Accessory Settings
  3. Go to Camera Device Settings
  4. switch to 50hz

Re: ps eye problem,, format??

i was aware of the 50hz setting along time ago, my problem was not flicker so much as getting my ps3 to register my eye but thank you just the same!

Re: ps eye problem,, format??

I think I had the same problem, or similar to it. I just bought a new one from this ebay store that had cheap prices and a huge selection! Check it out!
