Re: 3D Gaming Arrives On PlayStation 3

Don't give a toss about 3D. Never wanted it before, don't want it now and won't want it in future. Thanks for nothing.

Who actually has a 3D TV yet? I have no plans to buy one anyway.

Pretty much the same as everyone else, not too bothered about 3D gaming, the current state is good enough for me. Unless your going to get Sony to give us all 3D TV's for free, I dont think many, if any are going to care about this feature.

Well you might have to quit gaming in the next 5-6 years, Because i think every game will be 3D. The games industry needs to adopt next tech, Otherwise games will soon start too become stale, and un-original (I.E COD 9, Fifa2015 Etc) I can't wait for 3D to take off, Once the tech gets sorted out (Graphics downgrade, blurry textures) It's going to be amazing, games will come too life, like they never have before. Embrace the FUTURE of gaming!

People will care when the price of the 3D TV's come down so they affordable for all to buy, which will be 3-4 years time, hence the reason why nobody cares right now.

It's all about demand, nowt to do with adopting. 3D has been there for years and years, although in a different way. It has however never really taken off as there was no demand.

How can people embrace this wonderful future if they can't afford it, don't forget, a big majority of gamers are actually of the older generation with families to support who cannot afford this "wonderful new" technology.

The last time i checked there was a shortage in jobs and people are barely able to afford to pay their bills let alone an expensive 3DTV

Re: 3D Gaming Arrives On PlayStation 3

[ Edited ]

I could afford a 3D TV right now - just about - but I'm simply not interested in 3D for games or movies.

I wear glasses, and having to wear 3D specs over the top is uncomfortable and  for me personally can lead to migraine. I can just about manage a film, but it's always a bit of a chore, and I can't wait to get the damned glasses off. I certainly have no wish to wear those 3D glasses for everything I watch and everything I play.

I'm considered by most people I know to be a bit of a tech geek, and am usually among the first to buy in to any new tech - but until they manage to come up with a glasses-free solution, 3D is not something I'm interested in at all.

Quite apart from all that, I've never found that 3D significantly enhances my viewing experience anyway. It's a fun but completely unnecessary gimmick.

If I were going to buy a new TV tomorrow, I'd choose a larger size standard HDTV over a 3D-compatible set without hesitation. I'm sure in the future all new TVs will come with 3D capability and we won't be able to avoid buying a compatible set. But I don't think it will ever become a necessity to make use of it.

It certainly won't be the case that you'll need to 'give up gaming in 5 or 6 years' if you don't have it; that's just silly talk. HDTV has been around since the mid-90s, but we still don't need a HDTV to play games. Any developer who releases a 3D-only game in the next 10 years (at least) will be significantly limiting their potential market.

Same as you i also wear glasses, i went to see Avatar 3D and the glasses were so uncomfortable over my own.
I always have to laugh when a game comes out that has "3D" such as Batman, they come with these silly glasses and i'd be , "what am i suppose to do with this :smileyindifferent:"

Some one gave me kudos for my post, (which is appreciated), i'm giving you one for reminding me of the annoying glasses.
