Re: 80029780 error cannot activate my ps3

My issue is different from this, but the end product all the same.

Okay here it is. I've had 4 PS3's in my glorious years of gaming and on my first three, wich was gave away, and 2 binned, I didn't deactivate my PSN ID (Didn't even have a clue about having to deactivate. Was new to it at the time.) from any of them. So that's 3 of my slots gone. I have my PSN ID on my brothers computer in the next room (Keeps him happy with the map packs for COD) so that's 4. And the current PS3 I have right now is 5.

Now. My little brother was messing about on MY acc on MY current PS3 and kept deactivating and activating at the account management area. Turns out he said an error popped up and when i tried to activate it again it won't let me. I then tried to play fifa online and it asked me to re-download my online pass except I can't download any downloads in my store now. Seems any DLC I've bought won't work for me anymore?

So apart from giving him a good kick up the arse I've been googling around looking for a way to fix this and it's an error mostly associated with game sharing, but cases of activating & deactivating too fast can cause this error to happen aswell? After putting the code in the Playstation Knowledge Center it say's "Unable to activate system" and that I can wait up till a week without trying to download and it'll sort itself out again.

So after I've waited a week I'll be able to activate my acc to my PS3 again and all my DLC will work again?

Re: 80029780 error cannot activate my ps3

Hello. I have had the same error appear and just recently fixed it. All I simply did was change my password and sign in ID and I was able to reactivate my account. Hope it works for you guys. It did for me.

Re: 80029780 error cannot activate my ps3

I just tried to activate it there and worked for me thank god. Shall be putting a password on this PS3 now so the wee rascal can't get his paws on it when I'm not around.

Also I simply waited the week without trying to download anything from my downloads in the store or activate it like it said on the Playsation Knowledge Center.

I'm so happy I can use my Dragon Age content again. I had just bought The Witch Hunt the night before he messed it up.

Just for note - game sharing takes more than having 2 PS3s in one house :smileyhappy:

I have 4 at the moment - all with my PSN ID on them - and that isn't game sharing either :smileyhappy:

And we weren't even testing for that..

Your statement says it all. If you buy the licence to use some software then let someone else use that software, you have caused the company that sells the software to loose out on a sale. You are stealing. Copyright of digital property can be difficult for some people to understand because we are used to dealing with ownership of physical objects. When you buy any software (applications, programes, media etc. ) you are buying a licence to use the software. At some point in the sale you will be directed to the terms and conditions. (the part most people don't read). The terms and conditions will explain what you can and can't do with the software. In most cases the software is always owned by the company (even if it's on a disk) you are just purchasing the right to use it for yourself. Any kind of purchase is a form of contract. My personal belief is that if you are not old enough understand, and be prosecuted for breaking these contracts you should not be able to make purchases.
