Re: ATTENTION: Tiscali and Pipex users having problems!

Hope you have learned something from this. I work for an ISP (not mentioned in this thread). Stop chasing these ridiculous attention grabbing 'INTRODUCTORY' offers for low priced broadband. The price goes up and the service goes down. Make your choice from a medium to high priced service and get a discount EVERY year when you re-contract. That is how you get the price down. You get what you pay for. Also there are people out there who can't even get BB until their exchange is upgraded. They wouldn't complain about traffic management. Be thankful you can get online and it is cheap. The network was only ever designed for phone calls, It can't handle too many heavy users. */puts flameproof coat on/ LOL :smileywink:

[ Edited ]

I have absolutely no issue with tiscali wireless broadband and my PS3, my laptop, my PSP or my PDA all using the same connection.  I do not use the hardware sent by tiscali - i have a netgear router/modem which just suits me better.

I use p2p on my laptop, i download DLC and demo's from the store - i can do both at the same time but obviously this impacts on the speed.  I downloaded the FW update with no problems (edited to say this was at midnight).  I online game through the evening with very few cases of interuption.

Funny that after 11pm, I could download the latest update for home, and this morning, I downloaded a few trailers from the store with no issues at all, and even at a reasonable speed. I can't get cable BB in my area either, Im thinking of changing to SKY connect, no fair usage policy there.

Well as of today i have offically moved to o2. Pipex have really disapointed me and really its just not worth the hassle. I hope they learn a lesson if enough people move away stating this was the reason why.

Re: ATTENTION: Tiscali and Pipex users having problems!

Yeah this is the problem i'm having. I brought Resistance 2 today and can't download the 26mb update. Its pathetic and thats why i'm moving supplier. Having to attempt to talk to people in the Philipines to get it fixed is irritating and frustrating, they don't understand what i'm saying!

Re: ATTENTION: Tiscali and Pipex users having problems!

it is so frustrating... i mean i understand fair useage policy etc... but not being able to do ANYTHING is rediculous.

I think i might investigate other suppliers.. i need unlimited service but we dont have cable in our area.... if anyone has any pointers as to where to begin my search let me know!... problem is i dont want to have time without the internet as i need it.. so the thought of swapping providers and having to maybe have a couple of weeks or whatever without isnt good.

Well see i think one of my other problems is, i use a wired connection and i don't have a router so the ethernet is plugged into the PC. The connection is normally fine but sometimes after a certain amount of time the connection on the PS3 goes seriously slow. Whe i use the browser it takes forever to load up pages, when i try to download anything from the PS store it takes forever. I think its rediculous that Tiscali do this, we pay for unlimited broadband therefore in my opinion nothing should be restricted!. I have thought of moving to Orange BB but i don't know wether there any better, anyone on here with Orange? if so ever had problems? all i can say is everyone needs to stay away from Tiscali they are useless.

Wow, I sure am glad to be living in Sweden when I hear about stuff like this. As far as I know no Swedish ISPs do any speed throttling at all, except maybe under extreme circumstances (such as someone maxing their connection 24/7). My ISP is ComHem (cable broadband, not ADSL or anything like that relying on existing phone lines), and I always get great speeds from PSN. Firmware updates are downloaded in a minute or two, and all other downloads are also really fast. I have a 24Mbit/s connection, and I have once or twice come very close to maxing it out (~3MB/s) when downloading from the PS Store (though I usually get about 1.5-2MB/s).

Anyway, I feel sorry for those of you who are having these problems, and I hope you can all find ISPs that don't treat you like crap.
