I was having a look on PS Store (U.S.) for Donnie Darko - Directors Cut (improved on great original?), which is there and I noticed Alien Resurrection (naff) had almost the same rating (4.71) as Aliens (excellent; 4.83) - WTH?

And looking at the other ratings, they also appear to bear little relation to the actual quality of the movies (on IMDB Alien Resurrection scores only 6.2/10, where as Aliens rightly scores 8.5/10)...

On a more serious note.  Ratings are purely subjective.  Aliens was a huge jump from the original Alien movie. Alien was more tense and psychological compared to the more in your face Aliens.   

I had no objections to Alien Resurrection but Alien³ was a painful experience and you could tell it had numerous re writes and a major location change. 

I really really despise the NON voice over version of Blade Runner but many people will categorically state that all the other cuts are better than the Theatrical Release; again, its all subjective.
