Amazed at wireless vs. wired

So today I decided to test out wired vs. wireless on a ps3.

 speedtest.net for wireless was

2.51mb/s dl

0.26mb/s up

ping 55ms

speedtest.net  for wired was:

6.50mb/s dl

0.45mb/s up

ping 50ms

may I point out I have 100% wireless signal.

I had been useing wireless until I did this.it took me 3%1/2 hours to dl mag it would of taken less than half the time if I had put in a wire.

so if you can,do it!

Please use plain text.

Re: Amazed at wireless vs. wired

Mag is a bad example given the P2P nature of it, but yeah generally wired is better but I still go wireless.

Re: Amazed at wireless vs. wired

It's funny because my pc and PS3 - both wireless - are only about 10% slower than their wired speed? I'm guessing you have a lot of ER interference causing heaps of packet loss etc?

Re: Amazed at wireless vs. wired

All i know is the dowload speed but:

Wired I get 10.34mb

Wireless I get 9.74mb

I do have 100% signal however as the router is in the room below. It is also a wireless N router so because the difference is so little i aint gonna bother attempting to wire it up as its just not worth it

You have a wireless N router but the ps3 dosent support wireless N.

Wired > Wireless.

Re: Amazed at wireless vs. wired

maybe a dumb questions but.....

how do i do a speed test on the PS-3?

do i simply use the browser to go to speedtest.net

or

do i run it from Network Settings > Test Internet Connection

if its the latter, this doesnt work for me as the download and upload tests just state 'Failed' when i run them

thanks
