Sorry to bother you all, but I dont suppose if anyone knows if theres plans afoot to allow users to be able to change their PSN ids and keep the associated trophies earnt too? Not an essential feature I know, but Ive been a Sony gamer since the PS1, and I should never have changed my original Central Station id. Probably wouldnt be able to get the exact name I want, but at least I could get something close to it. Im sure Im not the only one who would like this either.

No it not happening.

Sony would need to do major changers to how the network works to impliment this.

Can't be that bad, Deviant Art just made a simple system to do it, and I know other site where admins where properly contacted and acting properley as they do, can change your ID without going beyond legal privacy, after all its stored somewhere in the system and can be accessed by a tool or some such Would be nice as I'm sick of mine but don't want to change to a new account as I've amassed so much here.

Your PSN ID is linked to leaderboards, Shop, Various different servers,DLC bought other stuff bought on PSN.

The way the system is designed is that it you PAN ID that is the link change that you loose the link to it all.

To implimeant is not cheap need a full redesign for it to work.

Not sure how Deviant art works or what it is.

Xbox Live tag have a ID number so if you change your tag the ID number is the same that's why it works on XBL PSN system does nto have this.

Yeah, usernames on DeviantArt have nowhere near the number of dependencies that PSN usernames do. I have no doubt that it is technically possible but the PSN infrastructure is so complex that it could cause all kinds of unforseen problems if they went ahead. And that doesn't even take into account the social issues and manipulation that would occur if users were able to do this.

If every username doesn't have a unique ID number (that is invisible to users), I'll eat my hat.

That's just how databases work.  Every record has a UID.  Even if the user doesn't see it.

I rather think Sony won't do this due to the myriad dependency issues and social confusion/manipulation that would result.

Yeah but they could charge a nominal fee. That 'll stop people changing their PSN id on a whim. Such a shame I cant change it, still its my fault and noone elses.

I can't see any reason why PSN cannot change your name. It is like logging in here, you don't need your user name you use your email. Why? Because it all relates to an ID number. You user name is not why ties you to all the games it is your PSN ID.

No reason at all why PSN do not offer their users this facility. The sad thing is people do need to change their ID's for many reasons, some far more serious than others. That in itself should be of major concern TO US ALL!

The Xbox360 users can change their id by one time.Ps3 users why not?
