Europe's PSN Video Store Opens Next Week
Hey, Europe. Your long, long wait for a PSN video marketplace of your own is almost at an end, with the service finally due to kick off next week.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have confirmed that the European PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service will commence on November 18, which is next Wednesday.
To begin with, it'll be available only for customers in the UK, Germany, France and Spain, with the service slated to roll out into other territories throughout 2010.
Some of the movies available on day 1 include: Angels and Demons; Bruno; The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; Crank 2; The Dark Knight; Dead Space: Downfall; Gran Torino; Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; National Treasure; Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl; Public Enemies; Star Trek; Terminator Salvation; Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen; Valkyrie; and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Not interested in the lineup? Remember: a crummy lineup is better than no lineup at all.

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.

I hope your goal is to have line-up of movies and series on par with the US service eventually. Probably the key to success. "Content is king" or was what they saying?
Feels like this age is in need of some 'cleaning up' to do when it comes to publishing/distribution rights in EU... It is obviously too complex as it is today, too many feeding off the supply chain in various countries.

I would not worry too much. The way SCEE handle servers, I doubt it will work correctly until 2010 for anyone.

Perhaps we all got a bit ahead of ourselves.
PS3 Video Store release date next week
Tuesday 10-Nov-2009 2:54 PM November 18 launch reports incorrect, says Sony
Sony has told CVG it will announce the launch date for the European PS3 video store during an event next Wednesday, November 18.
It clarified that reports of the service going live on that date are false, and that it's simply the date the launch party will be held, at which the service release date announcement will be made.
As Sony recently confirmed, films available on the service at launch will include: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Bruno, Angels & Demons, Casino Royale, Crank 2: High Voltage and The Hills Have Eyes.
