i like playstation plus, alot of people keep dissing it. is this because there jealous they cant afford it, or because it is crap and a rip off? 

if we pay the fee of £40 and we get £200 of free stuff then....im crap at maths but that dont sound like a rip off to me. thats my point of view... SONY did say its only for the hardcore gamer who lives on playstation network. i consider myself in that group.

It's your money to spend, no-one elses.

If it was given for free you would see people saying how great the service is and the best thing since sliced bread, but as it's not - you get the people who rant n rave how they hate it.

  Not sure Sony did say that at all.

Infact, I believe the correct statement was that PS+ was for people who WEREN'T hardcore gamers.

TBH, the hardcore will already own all of the offers within PS+, so what incentive is there for them so sub?

I doubt people that can afford a PS3, HDTV, games and blu-rays can't afford Playstation Plus.

I think a lot of people are disappointed with what they have paid for, even though it was clear what it was before they paid for it.

'Free' games that you can't play once your subscription expires...and automatic updates, which is something most PS3 owners feel we should all get for free anyway.

I'm not interested in it as I already own most of the decent games from the PS Store anyway, as do a lot of people by now, and I'm not paying to update my games automatically.

Also, as far as I know there is no guarantee you will get access to betas as Sony have covered themselves by saying 'where available' or words to that effect.

So to answer your question, I think it's crap and a rip off.

You get 3 services from PS+; 'Free' content and discounts, automatic download and beta trials.

The 'Free' content is just rented to you and will stop working without PS+. And most of the stuff offered, hardcore Playstation Store users would have bought already or would never buy.

The Automatic Download is a good feature, apart from the many complaints of it downloading demos of games you already have and failing at updating games.

The Beta trials as DiscoDa said doesn't guarantee you into any Beta's.

I took a 3 month punt with PSPlus and it has pretty much confirmed what I thought.

1.) Automatic updates is a great idea, sell it  me for £1 a month

2.) The content offered is "old", not to mention particular. It is as if SONY has no idea who they want to buy this. Stop "offering" content and start letting us select what WE want each month. One mans Wipeout is another man's Joe Danger.

Once my 3 months is up I am outta here.

If I stay a member sure I get free content but not always the content that I want, as an avid gamer I will tend to buy content day one or with in 2 weeks of release. Now Plus has come along what do I do?

Do I sub Plus and NOT spend money in the hope the content I want appears?

Do I no get Plus and just keep on spending?

I'll second this + the fact that Sony just keeps releasing ***** that is not being asked for, add some features to this almighty ps+ that is actually useful a i may consider it.

That was my point with the recent FW Update.. Why the hell give us a "You Might Like" option which looks incredibly ugly.. Sort out the stability of the XMB or even sort out the Download History ff$.

I got PS+ on day one, and im very impressed, I never really bought much off the store before so most of what is on offer is new to me.
Septembers content looks awesome, I was looking at buying MGS last month but didnt want to incase we got an offer and now we have.

yes and no,,,, i to have purchased a full year and would class myself to be semi hardcore and for NZ$90 to have the oppurtunity to download an array of differrent games etc, i think is great.

still early days and i think its only gonna get better.
