Have i changed isp at the wrong time??

Just realized i'm due to get plumbed in with virgin media at the weekend, so am i about to shoot myself in the foot??

The reason i ask is the email i currently use was provided by my service provider, so if i'm switching to vm at the weekend i'm going to assume that this email becomes null and void, so how do i sign in to change it to my new one if you get my drift??

If it comes back online before the weekend i think i should be sweet, maybe???  :Scared:

What ISP were you with?

I was with BT before VM and I still have that email account a year on.

I'm currently with bt, getting the virgin phone line and broadband, but i assumed that my bt email would be terminated by either bt or virgin??

Re: Have i changed isp at the wrong time??

In my experience, the email account is usually kept active for a period of time after you transition to a new ISP so you should be able to access it through BT's webmail interface.

If you do have any problems in changing password with the email though if you call and explain to SCE when it's back up you should be ok, but if you change from an activated console I don't believe it will matter to much (don't quote me on that though)

You'll have no probs with your BT email my friend. I moved from BT to Sky about 3yrs ago but still use my BT account on a daily basis.

Re: Have i changed isp at the wrong time??

A better long term solution is to get your own domain, then you can forward mail from that to any ISP/mail address you like, transparently. It doesn't cost very much, and means you can switch ISPs as often as you like without having to update anyone.

Getting your own domain isn't a bad idea.

A quicker/easier soultion is to have an account with another webmail provider such as hotmail/yahoo/gmail/aol etc that isn't tied to your internet connection like your own domain :smileyhappy:
