Hey, I just tried restoring the default settings and i still get the error message and my controller won't connect at all now
I wonder what it is????.
Hi DJ_Basshead2372,
So this error code is still appearing 80010201?
So far we have established that restoring defaults and re- establishing the connection has not worked in this instance.
How do you currently have your PlayStation 3 set up online- is it directly to the router via ethernet or is it a wireless bridge through a laptop/PC?
The reason I ask is some have noted the issue if they are using a bridge but not using a ethernet crossover for the connection. If possible DJ_Basshead2372 are you able to try an alternative ethernet in your connection at all- I would be interested to know if this makes any difference at all?
In regards to the issue with the controller pairing, does this work with the USB cable and have you tried to pair this with a different cable. There is also a reset button on the back of the controller you could try.
Keep me posted,
Rabid

Hi RabidWalker,
I currently have my PS3 set up with a wired connection directly to my router, all my other appliences that use the router are still able to connect to the internet but not my PlayStation.
In regards to the controller problems, even with the USB cable attatched it still has trouble syncing to the console (sometimes not connecting at all), and also the reset on the back of the controller doesn't seem to have any effect.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply,
Do you have an alternative cable to use for your wired connection at all, just to elimiate any issues with the ethernet cable itself?
The other thing is to attempt to restore default settings on the console and re establish the connection with both the internet and the controller. Do you have the facility to try the controller on another console at all?

Hi,
I've tried Three different ethernet cables between my console and router, sadly to no avail, i've been told by a few friends it may be the motherboard on it's way out but i'm not so sure, so i don't know if it is worth sending in for repairs again or not?....
As for trying the controller on a different console yes i took it round to my friends house and it worked fine there so i have no idea what could be wrong as my friends said if it is infact the motherboard on its way out then it may be affecting the bluetooth portion of the console because other bluetooth devices won't connect as i tried them for the first time since i got my console back today....

I am having the same error code with my 80g. It all started with the yellow light of death and i fixed that problem with help from youtube videos. Now that I can get it to turn on again I cannot connect to internet or wireless controllers. I purchased a new ps3 but because the ethernet board is fried I can't even transfer files from 1 ps to another. I have ordered a new board from ebay and when I get it changed I will let u know how it works out, should be in a couple weeks.

Hi Shydad,
If you have tried all of the aforementioned advice suggested, it may indicate a hardware issue. However I will have a look into this error further and update when I have more info.

With regards to the posts about the guys having problems with the ps3 even reconizing their ethernet cable I had this problem and what solved it for me , I was using windows xp on my p.c and had the ps3 networked off that with a standard RJ45 CAT 5 ethernet lead. Then I upgraded my operating system to windows 7 . All the network settings were still the same but my ps3 wouldn't connect to it. After research found out I needed a CAT 6 PATCH ethernet lead bought one and it's work fine ever since. I never get the error code any more ps3 internet settings are (custom) (wired connection) (auto matic everthing except D.N.S settings go manual 217.171.135.1 217.171.132.1 ) you'll have to get your own d.n.s settings off your computer . Goto run on the start menu type cmd then a black box appears type ipconfig/all then all your network settings come up look for d.n.s they'll be two sets of numbers like mine. I'm suprised people still have this error I hav'nt had it for nearly two years now . I hope this helps ......
