Help 80010201 error

Hey my PS3 is 2 days old and has been working fine and suddenly this error (80010201) decides to come up.

It says ethernet cable is not connected when it clearly is.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Re: Help 80010201 error

I've been having the exact same problem.  There is also a problem with my controllers synching up.  :smileysad:  I've been searching the forums for some kind of fix, but nobody seems to know anything.  All I know is that the problems began when I installed the latest update, so I'm hoping the next one will have a nice fat patch in it to resolve the issue.

Re: Help 80010201 error

Did you get any resolution to this?  I just updated to 3.01 firmware and mine did exactly the same thing on reboot.  Same error, no ethernet, no wi-fi and controllers won't sync.

Re: Help 80010201 error

This does seem to be a hardware problem it has happened to people when updating with version 2.76 software and version 3.0 , 3.01 . Try reseting your ps3 by turning the power off then on at the back,  then holding the on/off button on the front for five seconds untill it beeps twice . Then goto network settings and go custom go along all the obvious untill dns then go manual. On your p.c,  goto run on the start menu , type in cmd  an press enter , a black dos window will appear type in ipconfig/all . This gives you all your network settings scroll down to primary d.n.s and secondary d.n.s servers put those two numbers into your playstation . Everything else auto . Test connection

Re: Help 80010201 error

No good unfortunately.  I can't even get a controller to sync via the USB cable in this mode (although I can only get one controller connected via USB in normal boot mode at the moment).  I think something more serious has given up.

Re: Help 80010201 error

I called Sony. They don't want to acknowledge it's a firmware issue. They want me to pay $250 for repairs. How outrageous..

Re: Help 80010201 error

this error typically occurs when there is a problem with the network board in the PS3.
Which isn't good news :smileysad:

Or you might be lucky, and find it is just the cable :smileyhappy:

things to check:
1) try plugging the network cable into a different port on the router
2) check the corresponding LED for the new port - any activity?
3) unplug the cable, and try to connect wireless (as a test). If the PS3 can't see any wireless networks (assuming there are some to see), then it is the card :smileysad:
If it can see them, chances are it is the cable, or the router :smileyhappy:

always worth unplugging and re-plugging the network cable at both ends, and / or trying a different cable

* YLOD? * *PSN Connection Problems?* *Blu Ray Problems

And we weren't even testing for that..

Re: Help 80010201 error

This error code means our wifi/network/bluetooth module is toast I've having the same issue just waiting for the replacement part I'll repost once I install the module and confirm if it fixes the issue...
