I've got the same issue, but found a workaround elsewhere, sorry con't remember where.

Press PS after the second battery flash to bring up the XMB.  The game may still not load but at least you can quit without having to restart your PS3. Rinse and repeat. It usually loads on the third go for me.

Guys i was having the same problem. I was so mad. But pausing any downloads you have going in the back ground fixes it for me. The ps3 really sucks at multitasking. Hope this fixes it for you guys too

Same here, I though my PS3 was done for, but now I know that is the game and not my console, what is happening with Sony? I hope they do something about it quick...

Same thing here! And, like other friends told us before, pause all downloads and start the game! It worked for me just fine!

I remember it stuck on loading for ages in left it and it eventually loaded then it didn't happen again.
