I have just read on the net that Game and Gamestation is soon to go into administration.  Is this true?

If it is it will be such a shame as I love shopping there.  The prices have been getting a bit much recently though.

yes its true and its their own fault for stupid pricing over the years imo

people have been buying heavily from them the past week as they seem to be selling off all stock at low low prices

I have been to Game today and spent what I had on my gift and game cards.

Bought my Son 12 months xbox live and a game for me.

The price of the games in there is extremely cheap now so it appears they are selling stock off.

Also heard a member of staff informing a customer that they are not selling anymore EA games (Mass Effect 3 etc).

Bye bye Game.

Three things may happen:

1) All Game stores will eventually be closed after administration, and the properties will remain vacant for years before being reopened as 99p stores or Indian restaurants;
2) Game Group will be taken over and the stores will continue trading in some sort of guise until it all happens again;
3) Game will be bought and stores will remain as they were... until it all happens again.

A possible forth option could be what happened to Woolworths, insomuch as the retail arm will be closed, but Game will become an online trader only.

They could go the way of an online store only but they will be up against the likes of shopto and amazon where the prizes have been a lot more competitive compared to retail outlets. But to be honest I can't see them surviving in any kind of form.

I never shopped at Game because of their prices and have always bought my consoles and games online.

Personally,i'd hate to see them closing.I'm a gamer in my 30's and have always loved going into Game,browsing round and actually dealing with staff that have an interest in Gaming,not to mention all the staff who are gonna be out of a job.Younger gamers have a different outlook than me,they're quite happy buying online,where i like to build up a collection,and actually see what i'm getting for my money...thats just my opinion..
