Need help connecting PS3 in uni dorm!

Hey guys, just got set up in uni, ps3 and all, plugged in my ethernet cable, and low and behold, it doesn't work. I asked the IT guys, they said that the PS3's doesn't work with their internet because of the bandwith restrictions. I read a few threads on ther internet and it said to get a modem and use that, and for some reason that will work, can anybody confirm this? Or is there another way? Money isn't a problem here, although I am not paying for my own internet when there is free internet right there!

Thanks

I wouldn't even try using a modem. It's a bad idea... *Shrug*

If there is restriction, then look within the room for a filter and ask the IT department if you can have your own internet provider. If not, then you are out of luck. Nevertheless, if you want to have more freedom, save your money and buy a small flat. You will get more options and privacy. That is what I did when I was a student.

What do you mean, look in the room? The filter is actually built into the internet, thanks.

From the looks at your post, I am afraid.. you are stuck with what you got due to limitation and restriction.

I can't help anymore...

Good Luck with University.
