Hi all,

The welcome package held nothing for me seeing i have all the games already however the one thing i was looking forward to was the PS+ trial.

I have subscribed to it and have started playing with, i've set the auto update to start at 8pm which has gone and passed and nothing has happened, i know there are several games that i have where updates are available , how does this feature work?

Ok, not sure what happened here. I turned on the PS3 to check if i was losing it and when i turned it of it said auto update was in progress

If Sony PUSH content then that content will trigger an auto download via remote codes sent at your set time.

PS+ auto download uses the Recently played games list in your PS3 to look for updates every 2 days. 

Top six games get checked. Then another top six. it then shuts down and resets the 48hr clock. When the PS3 boots it dails home to sony to get the PUSH product data if there is any it will then download at the users set time.

If you have a OSX 10.5 or linux you may be very used to this as you can set Software updater to every 48 hrs as well.

In relation to the Auto update though, if you set a time say 20:00 - 22:00 , is it a random time between the 8 and 10pm or should it actually start at 8pm? Also , it seems it was actually started when i turned on the PS3 as when i turned it of it advised me it was in progress, is there a way of seeing that it is in progress or what it is downloading?

All content on download list. will be downloaded even if Auto download finds no update data.

i was going to create a new thread,but thought i may as well hijack this one if you guys don't mind

about the 30 free days,is it from now,or is it from when we download the free PSN+ thing off the Ps Store?...e.g.so i could download it on Monday and still get 30 days

It's from when you "subscribe" so you could do it on Monday. However the offer is only there for 30 days

It's a random time between 8 and 10pm and will usually only run for upto 2 hours. If you still have items being downloaded it should auto update again the following day, normally it's every other day.
