I'd like to have the option to change my ID, though I wouldn't pay for it. I can see why some folk would be against it, but when I first registered I just wanted to get online - I didn't want to spend ages dwelling over a user id. A few years on and I have a new ID I want to use - but like some others - don't want to start again. I don't care about losing trophies, but games like MW2 are linked to your PSNid and there's no way I'm going through that again. It would be nice to be allowed a one off name change at least, or allow you to change it once a year or something like that. I can see the issue with letting people change their ID at will as you'd end up with tonnes of taken user ids that are no longer in use making it harder for new people to come up with one.

Lol, My PSN ID sucks, but you just gotta deal with it, I dont like being called Bridge , I just don't like it, though we will never get the option, just like nerdlegend said

Well you can change the display of your PSN id if you have a Japanese account and i believe now a U.S account. By "display id" i mean when you just look at the colourful id's on the XMB I wish someone from Playstation could update us on what that is about.

I find it highly ironic that you would tell anyone to grow up. If you don't like a service you paid for then you are within your rights to complain or even ask for a change even if it doesn't work. He's not hurting you with the petition or anyone else. So stop being a baby because people on the internet are doing something you don't like.

I don't mind paying for anything as long as it's worth paying for. Microsoft charge for changing your ID and I am more than willing to pay a max fee of a fiver for changing your ID. If it can be done in Japan, whats stopping Sony from bringing it out for the rest of the regions? It's just another lame excuse to do with whatever they want to make it to prevent from introducing to other regions..

There's an online game I used to play (RuneScape, I know I know, disgraceful) that now allows you to alter your display name once a month (Although you have to be a member meaning you'll have to pay to change it).

And the Japs have it? Why don't we then!

I think there is no need for a namechange service, though I do think there would be a huge demand for a Trophy migration service. Say if you changed your name, but wanted your trophies and the gamesaves to move over to the new ID.

I like my name, however, I know quite a few people that would like to change their names. I do think it is about time they allowed a name change at a cost (about £5). I have deleted two friends by mistake because they had awful name changes. The friends list should have another comments line for you to add description about your friends saved locally on you PS3 (e.g. Andy, met on Home and plays UC2 and MW2). I will not forget who they are then!
