Re: HELP - Update 3.42 has crashed my PS3

the trouble is ... every single time there is a system update .. there is always people on here (mailny newbies) saying the ps3 has magically fracked up.

As in this case its not the update , its the hardware thats faulty

Welcome to the forums tho :smileyhappy: hope ya stick around for a bit more then good old technical advice

Re: HELP - Update 3.42 has crashed my PS3

If it bricks while updating you don't care if its firmware or hardware you just want it fixed.
Where is a good place to get help? the Playstation forums. It's to be expected. But the fact it happens "every time there is a firmware upgrade" may hint that there IS some connection no?

Re: HELP - Update 3.42 has crashed my PS3

yes it is totally the right place and i would encourage people to come to the forums for any technical help they need b4 getting in touch with the helpline ..... however a small firmware update doesnt normally start killing of ps3's

revenge of the killer 3.42 lmao

Re: HELP - Update 3.42 has crashed my PS3

It doesn't always kill them. There are always the chances of something odd happening during the flashing to kill a ps3. Flashing is a bad thing to do too often.
The update itself may not brick all consoles, but the process of applying any update allows a situation where bricking can randomly occur.
You should expect the odd case such as this where godknowswhat happened and left him with a brick. I expect had the update not come through he would still be playing fine.

Well, always keep your flashing to a private place of course! public flashing would just be wrong....
