Re: update 3.42

[ Edited ]

dunno but it seems to have broke my XMB audio, i have no click sound when moving around & when highlighting a game i have no audio, also when playing a game i have only stereo sound instead of multichannel(according to my amp)

Edit: Forget the above, just found out my 1 year old daughter had messed around with my AMP remote & switched the front 2 (left & Right)speakers off some how(GRRRRRR) , now all is working fine again, kids eh.....but i love her to bits....

Re: update 3.42

I've seen a few news reports that say it's for added security.  Good move by Sony.

No, that's just their way of saying "we've disabled jail-breaking". The firmware update most likely does absolutely nothing for you in terms of 'security'.

Re: update 3.42

I will NOT update to this secured firmware version. I want to remain free to use my PS3 in news ways that have been open recently  I may buy another console (sold at loss by Sony) for online play if good enough multiplayer exclusive games are released.

Take that Sony (especially SCEE), that’s what you deserve for not making the PSN officially available in Morocco  We’ve been buying original games here since PS3 release but you showed no support for us at all, it’s revenge time! :Samurai:

Re: HELP - Update 3.42 has crashed my PS3

As an engineering I can tell you that if the system works fine before firmware update then is screwed up after then the update is to blame. Only a person with no real hardware knowledge would say otherwise. Sony needs to test these way better!

Re: HELP - Update 3.42 has crashed my PS3

That's certainly one possibility. However, just because one thing happens after another doesn't necessarily mean that the former caused the latter. If I scratch my nose then soon after an anvil falls on my head it doesn't mean the fall was caused by the scratch.
