[ Edited ]

Good afternoon PlayStation Network users,
Please be aware that there will be significant PSN maintenance this Thursday afternoon/evening:
Start time - 15:30 (BST)
End time - 00:30 (BST) on Fri 29/10
During the outage times (15:30-23:00), all users will be impacted. All services (Customer Service tool, PC/Console Store, Customer Account Management, Registration) across all regions and storefronts will not be available. Customers who attempt to access the services will receive the site maintenance notification page.
Consumers who already connected to the platform before the beginning of the maintenance will be able to stay connected and not lose their sessions.

There is an awful lot of maintenance lately. :smileyindifferent: Are we ever likely to know what it's for?

It's a generic response from any company to apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.

Unfortunately it's a lose-lose situation for any company in this type of situation. Apologise and people feel they do not mean it, or not apologise and people say they have no compassion and do not care.

What I don't understand is why they choose to perform the maintenance at peak hours (when most people would be at home). Fair enough, I'm not saying they have to stay up doing a night shift and perform the maintenance at night time, but why not during the morning when they themselves would be in office, therefore restricting the maintenance to outside peak hours (i.e. the evening).

If they had started at 8 or 9am (08:00 or 09:00 BST), it could be finished at 5 or 6pm (17:00 or 18:00 BST) and therefore open up the evening to everyone in the UK and in Western Europe, including those who stay up late in Eastern Europe.

However, those who will benefit from the planned maintenance hours are the users in Australia and New Zealand. The majority of them will be sleeping.

Will we still be able to log into our accounts during this time and play online games?
