Portable ID Guide

Portable ID Guide

As part of the recent update on the PlayStation website, we now have the ability to create a 'Portable ID'.

This guide was created to help you create your 'Portable ID', and also to show you how to use it as a signature on the PlayStation forums.

If you don't know what one looks like, here is an example of one;

As you can see, it shows your PSN ID and Avatar.

You can also select your favourite game, favourite platform and also your mood from a drop down list.

Over time, there will be other features added to the Portable ID.

Looks good right? Here is how to get your own; (Click on the images for the full size)

Visit the 'My PlayStation Network' section of the PlayStation site.

 Click For Fullsize

If you already have a PSN account, you simply log in with your registered details, if you have forgotten your password, you should click the 'Forgotten your Password?' button.

If you wish to create a PSN account, you may do so by clicking the aptly named 'Create Account' button and then make your account.

Once you are logged in, you may either click the text that says 'Edit my Portable ID', or alternatively you can click the 'My Games' tab.

You are now ready to create your Portable ID.

Click For Fullsize

You choose your current mood, favourite game, and favourite format by clicking on the arrow to provide the full list of choices in a drop down box.

You select the theme you wish to use by clicking on the radio button to the left of your desired theme.

Once you are happy with your selections, click on the 'Update' button.

Once it has updated you should see your changes on the preview of your Portable ID, you can make changes but don't forget to click the 'Update' button.

When you are finished updating your Portable ID, you will want to show it off of course.

The PlayStation website luckily provides codes which can be used in most places, ready for us to copy and paste.

For most forums, you should use the code provided in the 'Forums' box, if you are having problems displaying your Portable ID on other forums feel free to ask for help, but I will leave it at that for now in this guide.

The PlayStation forums however, will not display your Portable ID correctly if you use the code provided in the 'Forums' box, so here is how to get your Portable ID into your signature on these forums.

You must be signed in to the forums, I assume you already are if you have done the above.

On the top of the forums, click the 'My Profile' link, it is on the right of 'Logout' and to the left of 'Dashboard'.

Click For Fullsize

Now, you can copy and paste the code from the 'Web' box displayed on the 'My Portable ID' page.

You may fill out any other details you wish to, and once you are done click the 'Save Changes' button and your done.

I hope that this guide has been a solution to any problems you may have been having displaying your Portable ID on the forums, if you still have any issues however, feel free to ask for help.

Re: Portable ID Guide

I did actually make the guide on the 30-11-2008, I sent a copy by PM for MusterBuster to check over, but he was on holiday until yesterday.

He replied today and told me to post the thread here, I had no clue someone had posted another one :smileysad:

Your welcome.

It is entirely optional, you can carry on using your own signature if you want :smileyhappy:
