Registering a used PS3 to PSNetwork?

I am looking into buying a used PS3 but would I be able to register it to my PSN account if it's used? I won't be able to know if someone else has already registered it, but if they have, what do I do?

Thanks

I think they need to deactivate their account then delete it from the PS3 then it should work

I'd be buying it used from a shop with no contact from the last owner so I doubt I'd be able to do that. Is that the only way?

Re: Registering a used PS3 to PSNetwork?

You should be fine to use a new account on it, if the system has an account already on it, or data just use "Restore PS3™ System" under system settings, to restore the PS3 to how it's shipped. (However will have the same firmware that was previously installed)

From then on out it should be fine. If it won't allow you it could be a banned console, in which case, take it back to the shop, and get another one, as it'll never be allowed on PSN.

However before doing that, check back here if you get stuck and ask Q's as it could be just PSN down at the time or a configuration problem etc :smileyhappy:
