This has really been on my mind for a while now. Yeah the video chat we have on the PSN is great i totally agree but don't you think that having SKYPE on the Playstation Network would take us to the next level. I mean i would like it if it would be free but maybe you can charge to have it but it would be amazing to have.  Especially because my computer sucks and my PS3 is like amazingly fast, i wish i had it on my system. Please take my idea into consideration, I think it would be an amazing idea and take PS3 to the next level.

Nothing to do with sony.

ANY product can be released on PS3 if the Parent company pays for the developer kit and PASSES the QA.

SKYPE DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT OR IT WOULD BE ON PS3.

Their choice no one elses.

Other companies never had a problem paying for the development costs.

PPC CPU is a different system than ARM and INTELL CPUs.

So companies WILL have an extra cost in doing bug testing and Cross platform conversion work.

But that does not stop other companies from doing it.

NHL, MLB 

BBC 

NETFLIX, LOVEFILM and other film apps.

If you want skype hassle them directly third party companies do not have to say YES they are free to say NO.

Just like Mozilla (no firefox browser but then WEBKIT render engine is better in Chromium any way), BskyB (No Sky go app), Channel 5 (no 5OD app)....

Microsoft now own Skype, I can't see this happening for that reason.

Microsoft own the WMV licenses but the PS3 PLAYS wmv3 and wma2 files because Microsoft sold Sony a Commercial License for them.

Same with Apple OSX, Microsoft Sells MAC software.

Being rivals does not stop Microsoft from making money of Rival systems.

This ^^^. Also Skype has become really bad in terms of quallity of the software and quality of customer care. Since I started using it it was more like Skype = Frustration.

MICROSOFT OWN BOTH.

So having microsoft own some thing does not stop it from being released on rival system

Microsoft Office being sold on OSX is another example of MICROSOFT owned product being Released on A RIVAL systems.

IF theres ENOUGH money to be made Microsoft will release the app. More likely then skypes previous owners.
