Somebody threatened to hack my PSN account.

I hope I am posting on the right forum selection.

I hope some of you guys may be able to help me. I may have ***** someone off enough that he snapped his controller in half after I nemesis killed him on Battlefield 3 and I have received his nasty threatening messages claiming something bad would happen to my account.

I didn't believe him, I hate people like him trying to scare us with us so I replied back sarcastically. The best part... he actually digged out my real life name and surname as well as my brother's name and his login ID which has been deleted from my systemlong time ago. How did he do that!? Seems my account isn't affected so far, what is the first action I should do? Thanks for the help, guys.

And I have took some pictures of the messages he sent, if it's important to be shown on here...

Re: Somebody threatened to hack my PSN account.

Use the Griefing option for PSN messages, and use this to forward them to Sony. If one of the messages contained proof of this real-life personal information, all the better for Sony and your case. Keep the offending message(s) in your inbox for the time being. Also, I would block the user.

Re: Somebody threatened to hack my PSN account.

It's amazing the info you can find by google searching an ID. You may find you used the same ID for something like twitter and used your real name on it, or used it on Facebook and not set your security right.

The best thing to do is block and grief report them using the option on the triangle menu on the XMB. Keep the messages as you may need them. If it doesn't stop contact a moderator via PM here and they will be able to advise you further :smileyhappy:

Re: Somebody threatened to hack my PSN account.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Surely I should not be worried about him trying to get into my account if he found out my email address and password which's not possible? What I am worried about is what he said it would be a shame if my 'personal details' were to be spread over on the internet and that he claimed he uses the tracing program on his PC.

Tried to do what Strangeplaice said. So I googled myself and google's a scary place... But something's not right - how did he find out about my brother's old PSN account which has been removed from my system more than a year ago, may he be using a tracing program, whatever it is and isn't that illegal and will sony do something more than just suspecting his account?

Re: Somebody threatened to hack my PSN account.

Does this idiot live in the UK? If he does then I would go and talk to the police about him. Tell them everything, that he is bullying you into releasing your details and that he is threatening to post your details over Twitter and other social networking sites. As we all know, they are cracking down on this sort of thing now. You only have to look at that muppet who abused the Bolton footballer recently who had a heart attack. He got 56 days in prison for it, plus there was those who threatened to riot last year over Facebook and Twitter.

I know it seems a bit extreme but considering it's causing you concern then maybe a visit from PC Plod might scare him into not doing it.

Re: Somebody threatened to hack my PSN account.

If you're using a vita and haven't set your privacy up properly then people can see your friends list, alternatively they may know you or your brother in real life and just be trying to freak you out.

Either way, a visit from Inspector Knacker of the Yard seems like a good move. Do it do it!!

Re: Somebody threatened to hack my PSN account.

Some people should not be allowed to play games...but like everyone else has said really report it to sony and they might do something about it but I hope everything stays alright for you

I get annoyed when people kill me constantly in a game...usually with a shotgun...but then I remember, I was probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time
