Ok just checked last thing i buy was a animated shirt in home and that left me with £3.05p left then recently i added funds for psn+ and that left me with £0.00 surely if i had £3.00 then added funds off £39.99 as it adds in £5 pound amounts i would be left with £3.06?

No ,i think it just adds the difference. It doesnt add in £5 amounts.
For example,i bought hamsterball for £8 yesterday ..I already had £2 left over in my wallet,it only took £6 out of my account to make up the difference.
So when you paid for PSN +,it only took out £36.94 out of your account - Using the £3.05p in your wallet towards it.

No problem.
One way to confirm it is to look at your emails. You should have had 2 for your purchase of PSN+.
One for the wallet funding (which should say £36.94) and one for your PSN+ Purchase (£39.99).
