Nothing Trading Standards will, or can, do. You agreed to T's & C's when you signed up which cover SCE in circumstances as these. They can basically ban your account for any reason they feel like.

Well, to be honest it is only a month, I just wish i was given more reason and some proof of the offence.

Its just if I was banned forever, I would of taken it further due to the fact they have £200+ of my money with £50 in my wallet.

Well the email I sent said to phone em so I will try that later and if I can't get any reaso, I guess I will have to wait a month... thing is I'm paying for a subscription which I'm not getting.

don't like these bans - Unless its for something extreme.

Mainly because, its not just a PSN ID they are banning - Its all the content a person has purchased off the store that they lose as well.

I for one wouldnt be at all happy if i got locked out of my £1000s worth of content. Its not right to be prevented from playing games that you own and have paid for.

In extreme cases yes,a ban should be applied - But ive seen people reporting to have been banned for such petty things.

One such case was someone who been banned for having the phrase "satan" in his ID.I mean come on,really SONY?  ....Use a bit of common sense here for christ sake.If someone finds this offensive they should get some sort of life & probably never go to church.

Somebody obviously reported him because they lost on a certain game - Sour grapes basically.

Being pretty high ranked in motorstorm RC.Ive had around 200 friend requests in the last few weeks - Some of the PSN ID's of these people are far,far worse than "satan"....

Theres no consistency in the banning of people - The real trouble makers online seem to get away with it & continue to cause havoc online.

yet people who do little wrong seem to get bans.

The reporting process is also flawed - They can create fake accounts multiple times and report a person multiple times ....And if their PSN ID is deemed "offensive" (i use the term very loosly) these parasites get their way.

In no way am i defending the scum that ruin online gaming for everyone else - These vermin probably use fake accounts anyway. Thus no threat to their purchased content.

Basically they get away with it.

Its the people who have done little wrong that i feel sorry for - Again, not for losing their ID,but all their purchased content.

And no,ive never recieved a ban - Because i never play online & dont have an "offensive" ID.

Just makes me angry to read about cases like this - It could happen to anyone of us.

Good luck OP in your case.

Re: Temp ban? Griefed report from lbp2? wth...

Hey OP,

I think it's totally unfair that you've been banned for a month for something that you haven't done. I think the whole system of banning people needs to be altered. How about a ban from online play? That is the main target of the ban anyway, to lock people out of playing online. It would even allow you to purchase and access content from the store, thus allowing you to continue recieving and accessing purchased content.

I know what you're going through because I was banned from Metal Gear Online (not accessing PSN, I know, but annoying all the same) PERMANENTLY for something I genuinely didn't do.

Whilst I realise now that it was likely from a stupidly easy password guess, someone managed to access my account, delete my character and intrude into someone elses account under my name.

Therefore my account was issued an irreversible ban for intrusion into another person's account, thus losing my £10 worth of expansions.

I sold Metal Gear Solid 4 in the end because I was so annoyed by the ban. I did try to appeal against the ban, telling Konami about a customer support message that I had sent them from my PS3. That evidently didn't get sent due to what I presume was a problem with the ps3's browser not sending it properly. Konami couldn't find it and I had no evidence and got no refund.

The game did need a unique Konami account and Game ID to use the online service though, which I do find quite odd, as PSN is more than adequate.

The Game ID is what they managed to access as the password has to be numbers only. Why I couldn't use my PSN for the login is beyond me!

They're closing down MGO now anyway, so in a way this is a sort of closure for me. Although it is annoying that they are releasing the dlc packs for free and aren't giving any refunds or some form of compensation to those people that have paid for them. Hell, in Japan, MGO was a standalone game, now it's being switched off, rendering the game a spare piece of unusable content.

Sorry for the rant and just realised - my 200th post :smileyvery-happy:

It's actually pretty easy not to get banned, you just have to just carry on being an upstanding member of the community.

In the many years I have been an online gamer I have never lived in fear of getting banned and I have always followed terms and rules.  Even in the days before PSN,  I realise that as an official I have a duty to play by the rules but before that I have been on countless other services.

Now that I have showed my face I might as well respond to the OP.  I think you said you ave contacted customer services?  Unfortunately I cannot handle your request for information myself.  Obviously you will be on an alternative account and not the banned one (unless cookies are enabling you to remain logged in here).  In order for someone to discuss your main account with you, you'll have to answer a couple of security questions to identify yourself.

dont mean to be rude - thats not always the case.

The case i was talking about that was posted on the blog a few months ago - The fella who had "satan" in his ID - This ban was extreme.

Now,i would never cheat, quit.send abuse etc - But i could have seen me putting something like "satan" or "evil" in my PSN ID when i got my ps3 5 years ago.I wouldnt have thought twice about something like this .....thankfully i didnt.

This would/could have got me a permanent ban on PSN - Like that poor fella.

I would have lost over 100 games (worth over £1000) & addons - Its just not right.

SONY can go on about terms & conditions all it likes - Its wrong.

To make matters worse, this person was in a clan & they all had "satan" in their ID,yet they didnt recieve a ban ....Laughable.

Its not just me who has this opinion - Everybody who replied to him said it was a disgrace.

All i'd like to see is a bit of common sense with the process.Lets not forget,a lot of children play online on ps3 - As we know,a lot of children dont like losing either.

I think this is what happend in this persons case - He beat someone online. They didnt like it,so they & their mates reported his "offensive" ID.

I certainly dont find "satan" offensive - And i dont know anyone who does.

Sorry for the rant - But i dont think SONY should take banning lightly.Especially when theere is £100s of pounds involved.

Again,i'm not defending the scum who ruin online for everyeone else - By all means ban these.

But in my experience, this rarely happens.

Re: Temp ban? Griefed report from lbp2? wth...

It seems a bit harsh to have your entire account locked for playing up in an online game. Sure ban them from the game but not from content they've paid for from the store. And no ive never been banned.

As far as i'm aware, the shop that you bought your ps vita from should replace it and not sony. Under the sale of goods act, the shop should be obligated to give a refund or replacement for faulty goods that are still under warranty.
