is the official bluetooth headset any good? is it value for money? play.com are doing it for £17.99

or should i go for the Jabra 125?

Thanks..

me and my friend use the official Sony Mic... works a treat... clear as a bell...
its all the other mics that are the problem... screeeching noises because the owner has there TV set to loud... booming music down the mic, blocking everyone else...

The configuration must be done on the PS3. Also, each game varies. The headset does not necessarily work in all kinds of games. Like for example if I play Metal Gear Online, I can speak through the mic when doing a voice chat, however the voice playback still plays on the TV and not the headset. Whereas when I play a game like SOCOM for example, you can hear your friend's voice on the headset itself and they can hear your voice at the same time.

I wouldnt put up with that... there just passing the buck, as it dosnt work properly with a PS3... the way a mic works dosnt change from game to game, thats a problem with the mic if it does... take it back from were you bought it and get a different brand...

Re: The Unofficial Headset Guide

I don't want or like the one piece headsets,   I  want a two ear headset with mic but not sure what options there are,  I did try my Fatality HS-100  usb gaming headset that I use for my pc,  I can get the mic to work but not the sound.

Are there any tried and tested headsets that work on the PS3.

Thanks

Re: The Unofficial Headset Guide

Hi,

I'm kinda the same, looking for 2 ear headset, not fussed about a mic, want to play the games late at night.

Can anyone recommend a good set of headphones for PS3?

Wired will do, need 4m cable

Will bluetooth work?

Will wireless work?

Is it the TV or PS3 they connect to?

Thanks in advance

Re: The Unofficial Headset Guide

Does anyone know a shop where the Official PS3 Headset is in stock?

I've been looking for a few weeks and can't find anywhere.

Re: The Unofficial Headset Guide

Hi Guys,

This is my experience with bluebooth headsets,k hopefully it'll help some of you guys out. I've had two types so far, the Jabra 125 (got it bundeled with Warhawk) & The official Sony one (got it bundeled with Socom Confrontation). As for sound quality & compatability with games, both of these worked perfectly, as far as I could tell. The Official Sony one has the advantage of being able to use it while charging as it came with a dock that it sits in while charging (this is charged via a USB cable connected to the Playstation). The Jabra 125 is also charged via USB cable. My Experience with the Sony headset was that it felt loose sitting on my ear & often felt like it'd fall off, while I had no problems with the Jabra 125 headset. The Jabra retails cheaper & is available in most game stores. I've since sold the Sony headset & use the Jabra exclusively. I hole this helps :smileyhappy:

Re: The Unofficial Headset Guide

Hi,

I also have had jabra ones with warhawk, I bought the official Sony ones.

I found both theses Bluetooth headsets to be very poor in chating in games.

I regularly found myself asking my friend to repeat a lot of what we were saying.

We both have Sony's ones.

I now have bought the P21 Turtle Beach ones ( wired about 16 foot - Long )

1st on putting theses on, W@W theses are LOUD ...

Chat is very clear compaired to the Bluetooth ones.

Loud , crisp and clear.

Just one floor tiny ringing sound ??

maybe I have theses up to LOUD :smileyhappy:

60GB day one PS3 , still going STRONG ......
