Right, finally got round to making a finalised / reviewed thread of the previous one. Taking into account everyones ideas and opinions and added a couple of new ideas... so it's not, really, that finalised! 

Basically, the jist of the idea is to be able to use trophies you've earned as a PSN avatar. (I have to make it clear that this is not for custom pictures)

Now there are a few options as to how this can or should work:

1. Platinum trophies only:

    Pros: Less impact on premium avatar sales.

               Platinum trophies become more valuable.

               Less frequent and more uncommon avatars (not everyone will have the same thing).

   Cons: Limits the number of trophies available to use.

2. Platinum trophy unlocks all trophies in the set:

    Pros: Platinum trophies become more valuable.

               Makes other trophies in the set available to use.

   Cons: Slightly more impact on premium avatar sales.

3. All trophies:

    Pros: A wide range of trophies available from start.

               A huge variation of avatars on PSN.

   Cons: Probably a big impact on sales of premium avatars.

This idea can work! As MusterBuster said in the previous thread, there are things that can be done to help. Find that post here. There are of course implications to using some trophies, as stated in his post.

All the thread needs is everyone to add their own comment.

Here's another set of pictures on the idea:

 Set as avatar or icon when the trophy has been achieved.

 "Set as" option unavailable until the trophy has been earned.

As an avatar.

This last one is a new idea, where you can place the trophy as an icon under your trophy level. As you can hopefully see in the first two images, there would be on option to set it as either an avatar or an icon.

(Apologies for the lack of quality. I don't have the appropriate tools to make them perfect! Plus, I had to host the first image on another site, as it was slightly too big to upload with the forum.)

What to do next:

Please, please add a comment to the thread. Say if you like or dislike the idea, add you own thoughts and ideas! Say if you prefer option 1, 2 or 3! Kudos was also recommended by MB to make the thread more noticeable, but that is entirely optional. I'm not doing this for kudos.

If there's anything you think I've left out, please say. I probably have!

Another idea that I thought of, was having custom themes for your PSN card. I wanted to tie it into this idea as much as I can, but it could also be something of it's own.

So, sticking to the theme of trophies, and this thread..

I'll use option 1 from above as an example of how this could work:

Say you just earned a platinum trophy in Killzone 3 (or any game), not only would you be able to use that trophy as an avatar or icon, what if you were also rewarded a theme for you PSN card?

Something like the ones for use as forum signatures, from the official website.

You still chose the colour of you card, and everything works as normal.. but you have the option to add a theme to one side. Alternatively, think of the backgrounds for player cards on Black Ops. Just to give you a rough idea.

This option could be added to where you would chose "set as - avatar or icon" in the above pictures. Also, having the 'one at a time' option for all three would stop them clashing with each other.

I chose option 1 as an example, but it really work with the others too. Obviously option 2 wouldn't be any different. Option 3 however, would. With option 3 you would be able to use any trophy as an avatar or icon, this theme reward, should only be available once you unlocked the platinum trophy. Making it a bit more exclusive and rewarding.

Now, some of you might be thinking "how will the three options work (avatar, icon and theme), can you use them all at once, and what if you have more than one platinum?" etc.

Well, that opens the door to a lot more options.

Either:

• You can only have one thing set at a time, period.
• You can only have one thing set per game at a time. So you can mix things up.
• You can do whatever with whatever.

So, you could end up with an avatar for the inFAMOUS platinum, and a theme of Killzone 3. Personally, I think this could be a little too much, or a little too much to imply. Seeing as well, that there would be a lot of implications with getting rights to do some of this. Perhaps keep it to exclusive games though? 

So, let's stick to having one thing set at a time. For now anyway..

Stuff like this could be made mandatory things to include with games in the future. Like trophies are now!

I'm torn between 1 and 2. Personally i cant see Sony losing out sales on Premium Avatars, lets be fair they're only 20p a pop so they wont miss much in terms of sales. If i have some change left over i usually buy an Avatar i like anyways. For example: the Ghostbusters Logo is better on the Store than on the Ghostbusters games, both Ghotbusters: The Video Game and Sanctum of Slime. Ideally i'd love to use all the art when you unlock them but maybe Plating the game would be the trade off - or you could possibly buy them off the Store if you dont have the game or cant be arsed with trophy whoring.. Something Sony might claim back in sales.

As far as I'm aware, the mods know about it and someone else is aware, the whole thing just needs people to 'like' it and comment basically. Traffic to the thread(s) would also help!

I'd go for #1

Make it more of an 'exclusive' 1 off avatar as opposed to having hundreds.

option #2 sounds cool to me....you would get a whole host of options open up to you but only once you put the effort in to plat the game.

Maybe a spin on two but why not link the trophy images to the store and allow people to buy the trophy image if they can't be arsed to plat the game?

This way, if you win a trophy your proud of but know you won't plat the game there could be an option to cough up 20p to buy the image there and then.  Only the peeps putting the hours in to plat things get rewarded with the set for free.

Anyway, great idea and can see you've put tonnes of effort into this so really hope it goes somewhere........if they do implement it you should get an honoury avatar made just for you

I like this idea! As for the how many to show at a time thing I've made red and underlined what I think would be the best idea IMO! I also like the OPs idea but I wanna add something on to it...

... As in instead of just platinum trophies have gold trophies in this too? I mean yeah sure more people get gold trophies, but that can be balanced with having the profile themes being unlocked with platinum trophies only, plus it gives more variety for the tophies people will have to choose as an avatar or icon while still making the Platinum trophies more worthwhile!
