Re: Help on getting your PS3 Online

Hi, just to say that where you need to open up ports may be under the heading of "NAT Setup" or something similar depending on the router, also enable UPnP on the router.

Re: Help on getting your PS3 Online

This sounds to me like the router isn't yours yes ? Are you connecting to a shared router in a college dorm or school building or something ? I have a netgear router and the port forwarding comes under the title "applications and gaming"

If your router (or gateway) IP is 81.39.88.1
and your subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
You can use the IP's 81.39.88.2 right through to 81.39.88.254
So.. Set either your computer or your PS3 to a different IP, try 81.39.88.3 or 81.39.88.4

Re: Help on getting your PS3 Online

By the way Alias, are you using your PS3 as a web server ? You have port 80 and 443 forwarded to your Playstation which are both internet ports, your playstation should not be accepting requests on these ports and doesn't need to be configured for outgoing...

Re: Help on getting your PS3 Online

Well, i dont have a PS3 yet... Cant afford one but when it comes to PC tech talk i no what im doing :smileyhappy: Its all pretty similar to getting the ps2 online though which i have.

Also, about the port quirey, i wasnt sure about them to ports my self, i use them for other things so they can get through to the internet so i guessed the ps3 may need them

Anyways... I did type that all up by my self, is it helpful?

Re: Help on getting your PS3 Online

Hi, can you help me out here? Not quite sure what to do...

Here's what I get on the config screen after I go into 'run' and 'command'

Windows IP Configuration

Host name: ****
Primary DNS Suffix :
Node Type: Unknown
IP Routing Enabled : Yes
WINS Proxy Enabled : Yes

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State : Media Disconnected
Description : SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
Physical Address : 00-16-36-40-34-88

Ethernet Adapter Wireless Connection:

Media State: Media Disconnected
Description : Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter
Physical Address : 00-16-CE-8D-B9-7C

PPP adapter Tiscali Broadband :

Connection-specific DNS Suffix :
Description : WAN Interface
Physical Address : 00-53-45-00-00-00
Dhcp Enabled : No
IP Address : 80.47.124.95
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway : 80.47.124.95
DNS Servers : 212.139.132.4
212. 139.132.5

Now I think I've got two ideas of how to set up the PS3 online...

A) Connect the wired internet at my house to my laptop, and connect the PS3's ethernet cable to it, and make adjustments. I've set up the wires and all, but do I need to change the settings on the PS3 itself to accomodate for this?

B) Set up a wireless server from my laptop and use the wi-fi on the PS3 from there. Not sure if this is possible, if it is, how do I do it?

Any help will be appreciated!
