Re: Upcoming Change to PlayStation 3 and PSP Game Content on PlayStation Networke

I just want to know, if I was to deactivate mynps3 before heading to my girlfriends, and activate it there
is this going to cause me problems down the line? I've never heard of there being a limit before this
was implemented?
Would you kindly???

Based on the scenario you described above:

You have 3 PlayStation®3 consoles; but only 2 can be activated at a time.

PS3(1) = At your house - Activated

PS3(2) = At your parents house - Activated

PS3(3) = At your girlfriends house. - Deactivated

If you want PS3(3) to activate so you can use your DLC, you will need to deactivate either PS3(1) or PS3(2). Keep in mind that any PS3 can only be deactivated once every 6 months.

If you deactivate PS3(2) and in its place activate PS3(3); PS3(2) cannot be deacivated again for 6 months.

PS3(1) = At your house - Activated

PS3(2) = At your parents house - Deactivated (cannot be deactivated again)

PS3(3) = At your girlfriends house. - Activated

A week later you want to deactivate PS3(2) and re-activate PS3(3).

PS3(1) = At your house - Activated

PS3(2) = At your parents house - Activated (cannot be deactivated again)

PS3(3) = At your girlfriends house. - Deactivated (cannot be deactivated again)

2 weeks later you want to activate PS3(3) again. You now have to deactivate PS3(1) and replace it with PS3(3).

PS3(1) = At your house - Deactivated (cannot be deactivated again)

PS3(2) = At your parents house - Activated (cannot be deactivated again)

PS3(3) = At your girlfriends house. - Activated (cannot be deactivated again)

So now you have 2 PS3 consoles activated and none of them can be deactivated again for 6 months. So you are stuck with the last configuration until the time is up.

So will it cause problems down the line? Well that depends. If you establish a well thought out strategy, its possible you will have no issues. But if you will be walking on thin ice. 1 wrong move and you could be seeing having to play PS3 at your parents house for 6 months.

As for the activation/deactivation limit, its a security measure SCE supposedly have in place. You won't know anything about it until you are affected by it.

I hope this helps.

Re: Upcoming Change to PlayStation 3 and PSP Game Content on PlayStation Networke

What I want to know is why that website shows me as having 3 PS3s activated on my account and I cannot see what differentiates them. I only have one machine but I have used my account on my nephews 2 machines (one which failed and was replaced) My account was deactivated on the fauty machine (blu-ray failure) so I don't understand why it is showing three. All three machies seem to be called "My PS3" so how do I know which machine is which? I have had a poke around the website but cannot see anything that refers to the system name of the machines. How hard can it be to give that basic information? or am I just looking in the wrong place?

"My PS3" is the default name given to PlayStation®3 consoles.

You can change this name by going to Settings>System Settings>System Name.

It all depends when SCEE "intends" to provide this website.

This website should go live on November 18.

Will the video deactivation also be able to be done via a PC?

Yes both Video and Game should be able to be deactivated via the online portal.

Thats super news, thankyou very much for replying :smileyhappy:

Unfortunately, only Game can be deactivated via the online portal at this moment in time.

The ability to deactivate Video, Music and Comic may come at  a later date.

This is for all Game and Video Media, including add-ons (DLC) and full games.

Re: Upcoming Change to PlayStation 3 and PSP Game Content on PlayStation Network

Well i just took a look at my account and interestingly i supposedly have 3 PSP's activated. Okay so i know i sold one PSP while it was activated, i didnt understand the rules back then since english is not my native language. Second PSP i sold as well to swap to the PSPgo but this time i did deactivate it trough the PSP system, and then the third one is brobably my PSPgo.

So why does my account still show 3 PSP's? Is it possible it counts as two seperate activations if i install content directly from the store to PSP system and then Install different content from the PS3 to the PSP? (example PS1 Games)

Re: Upcoming Change to PlayStation 3 and PSP Game Content on PlayStation Network

Sorry if this is a daft question but this seems to be the best place to ask it.

I have 1 PS3 and 1 PSP. I am about to buy another PSP (so my kids will stop fighting over the only one we have)

Do these rules mean that I will be ok to have both PSP's and my PS3 all connected to my PSN account or is it 2 devices in total rather than 2 PS3's and 2 PSP's?

Cheers

Dips
