Re: What is sony doing about the rampant racism on psn?

The answer is theres nothing they can do, but there is something you can do, thats mute / block other players or even better just turn the other cheek and ignore it

Most of the time the racist players are the 30 year old unemployed no hopers so just ignore it,

and i think it would possibly be very expsensive for sony to constantly monitor and catch every racist there is and instead id rather they use this money on improving the system, if it really does offend you so much id say stop playing online games, but you should be the bigger person and be able to ignore it without the help of sony,

its not nice but the world is full of hate, the answer? deal with it

Just because some one says something racist doesn't mean they are a racist.

their can be racism from all groups not just one side and abuse from any kind, colour, age of player, as someone has stated mute them or leave the game but dont play the ethnic minority card as no one group is any better or worse than the other

Re: What is sony doing about the rampant racism on psn?

Racism on the PSN is like racism in football, Unless all of us, thats developers publishers service providers (PSN) and the end users (US) all act together then it will never go.

The reason racism does not occur openly in the streets is because we as a society do not accept it, more so that than because of the judiciary. Whilst we should always nudge the industry to take a hard line on racism, we too have to take a hard line. We have to vote out racists, report them and marginalise them.

Until that occurs, until the gaming community acts, then Sony wont be capable of doing much more than banning when they see it.

Kids shouldn't be on Call of Duty and they should be supervised when playing games online.

Plus, if you say you're an adult, deal with it. Mute them. I see the same people give me abuse all the time, I'm not crying about it.

Re: What is sony doing about the rampant racism on psn?

if you dont like wha ppl are saying while playing online, you can just unplug your ps3 from the internet, play offline or get games where you can ONLY invite your friends on. No one is forcing you to play online.

The PS3 DOES have an OFF button.

I personally dont like playing online, i hate it, all those 7 year olds screaming in your ear. I played Resistance online for 30mins when i got it, it was the 1st & last time. Now i play games that i can invite my friends over on if they have the same game.

As Rubberduckziller said Blops isn't a family game, but even so racial abuse shouldn't be accepted because of that. Maybe a bit of swearing (or a lot if havinga bad game) should be expected, but no one should have to put up with the crude racial comments that can be heard quite often. I think people feel safe to use it in their homes and thats why you hear it so much, cause if they said that kind of rubbish in the streets someone would beat the S*#t out of them.
