The PS3 is not going paid subscribing like XBlive to play online, that's been confirmed.

This is why i think PS+ will not be a big success because there is no real incentive in my opinion to sign up to it. Now if online gaming had to be paid for everyone would moan like hell and probably subscribe anyway. But the way i see it the PS+ service will live or die by the qaulity of the subscriber ONLY content. It seems from the early signs that this is just not going to be up to much as most of the content is available to non subscribers on the store anyway.

The problem with the PSN+ service is that some are equating it to something like XBlive, when its not, its more akin to a rental service with perks, which is what it is, but some just heard PSN+ and that was it, game over, despite it being optional....its more choice, nothing more.

Choice being the one thing PS+ IS actually missing, if they do change the service and give us a pool of games to choose from, rather than presenting pre-selected games to us with no choice whatsoever, then maybe just maybe PSN+ might be worth subscribing to, oh and they need to offer newer games not games like wipeout, LBP and Infamous, which are just too old and and not really a going concern anymore.

Just a thought, seeing as PS+ would be ideal for newcomers to the PS3 and its Playstation network, as they will obviously have next to no games yet, and most games offered will probably be new to them, maybe they should re-name the service......PSNOOB+, because you would think anyone whose been using the network for even a relatively short amount of time will have very little incentive at all to subscribe to this service.

I am, for the reason I probably spend more than that a year on the Store so this is covering that cost and any games that I get will be technically free.

If you don't already own them which will be a bit of a challenge judging by the first couple of months offerings.

Re: Who Is Paying £40 For Playstation Network Plus

hahhaahah!

looking at this thread most people on it are buying into this PS+

Well, look at the comments on the blog and hell no, I look at what is on offer, what I already got, what is rental...what is free (Call it free but your paying for it = £40) minis LOL which I hate! Discounted DLC? How can someting be discounted if yoiur paying for that discount?

I am not stupid.....but it appears that freebies are minis, PS1 clasics are rental whilst subscribing, then if you stop subbing then you stop playing the PS1 classic, as for the discounted DLC isnt that what your paying for!

I have a lot of what is on offer in the first 2 months...so ok Sony I will give you £40 a year for stuff I already own, plus stuff I can rent for a year or whilst subscribing....and get free mini's which I dont like (or I buy First play and get some free for 99p) and having NO CHOICE over what is offered then yes please take £40 off me cos I love you!

NOT!

Sorry I couldnt help myself...but I get a + after my name..so I will have 10 then please and be skidpro+++++++++ LOL

Seriously no way....I will watch and wait..btw, I have LBP GOTY edition on Disc....why do I want to pay £40 for something that cost £18 off play.com? with extra DLC included?

You gotta laugh..even more at people buying into this....cos either they have money to throw away...or cant read between the lines and think they are getting a choice of freebie games worth £200...not quite...casual gamer? I think thats what this is aimed at:smileyhappy:

Re: Who Is Paying £40 For Playstation Network Plus

If people are happy to pay it then let them. Same with Home clothing etc. If people get fun out of it then I see no problem and it helps get Sony some dosh which they can hopefully invest and improve things. Unfortunately this time new features could end up PS+ only but time will tell. For me personally, the first 2 months would be a waste for me, so will wait to see what month 3 and on bring to the table.
